Joking aside, I could see Modders being something of the missing piece in the jigsaw. Could be a kind of Pirlo-figure, directing games. Be gutted to see him end up at any another PL team, but the thought of him at the Chavs or Goons makes me feel physically sick.

Funniest thing about that BR article is how it features both Sun and Wail hacks banging on about how we should pay Player X £Y amount every single week based on what other players earn at other clubs. It's as if they just copy/paste the same drivel with the names being changed at regular intervals...

 

I guess we can shelve any plans to bring in Pau Lopez this summer, as he's agreed to join Betis once his Espanyol contract expires at the end of the season.

Sticking with Catalonia, we're once again being linked with Andre Gomes - even though his performances this season have seen him go from "kid with potential" to "Spanish Ravel Morrison" in a remarkably short space of time.

 

He's had a **** time to be fair. Probably moved to Barca too early. Iniesta still has it in him to perform, while Rakitic still has a few years left of elite level football. Realistically there's not many who'd get in above those two to partner Busquets in the centre.

If he's available for a reduced price I think he'd do well here with a bit of an arm round the shoulder. He's got the talent.

I figured there was a reason why last week he said that he regretted the way that he left Spurs.

 

On purely football reasons, I would prefer him
to return than Bale. The summer of 2011 and
the 2012 departure to Madrid however is too
big a burned bridge for many supporters.

 

I have a funny feeling that we might just get both. Levy will want to win the league in the first year at the new stadium.

 

In terms of personal success, both have
3 CL winners medals, so does #4 really
matter as much etc.

In terms of wages, both have been paid
lorry loads by Madrid, so do they
really need anything close to similar to
return to the PL.

If some altruistic/sentimental spark for Spurs
lives in them, it would then come down to
the transfer deal (a swap of current key
talent is not an option etc) .

 

The Standard are reporting that Llorente is free to leave this summer.
