It does seem to be a recurring theme, the fact that the Board TOTALLY mismanaged our riches from that WONDERFUL day in May 2015 (I know that the accounts are available to view, but other than 'being held to ransom' by Naismith, WHERE did the money go???), when the facilities at Colney SHOULD have been upgraded, but I'm sure that the necessary funds will be raised.

During the twilight of McNally's tenure, all the talk was about upgrading Carrow Road to circa 30,000. Now it's a bond scheme just to upgrade the academy to maintain Cat 1 status <yikes>

I thought Delia had paid back her interest free loans to herself, if she has, how about she loans the academy the money. How about she invests in her club's future? It's great to have owners who back the club and invest in it!

    Bah!

The club paid back the bank loans but i'm not sure Delia and Wynn-Jones' investment has been paid back to them personally. It was an interest-free commitment to the club so would probably sit in the accounts under "absolute last resort repayments when we're minted" column. Perhaps they have received it back following one of our PL windfalls but i'm not going to start giving Delia grief about not investing in our club after what they've done to keep the club afloat in the past.

Well said HMQC, talk about bite the hand that feeds you, how can you blame someone for not being rich enough to break FFP rules?

But investing in their own business even in the form of another interest free loan especially if only £3.5m against a turnover of around £30m next year hardly breaches FFP. And if the hand that feeds us is serving up stale bread and gruel whilst charging for top end chain restaurant prices. Excuse me if I think a change of cook is required. What ever Delia et al did 20 years ago, does not make them good for the club now. That Times article says it all.

Delia says. “I really do feel for supporters. They’re treated so badly. They book their hotel rooms and get cheap prices for their travel tickets in advance. Bang. Oh, that game’s not on that day any more. The average age of a supporter goes up and up. Families have to share a season ticket: one child can go one week, and another the next because they can’t afford it. I’d love to see supporters worshipped and respected because otherwise it’s going to end up on television.”

And they charge some of the highest prices in the Championship and arn't even cheap by PL standards! really Delia?

"we’d like our football club to be successful.’ We didn’t want anything else. We watched the whole collapse under [Robert] Chase, all our players going one by one. It was terrible.”

    Sound familiar?

"But no way will we sell. We don’t even listen to any enquiries. Our nephew, Tom, is now a board director. He’s 35. He’s a very good board director. He’s a very passionate Norwich City supporter and he will be the recipient of our shares.”
We're doomed! Only in delia's squewed world can a 35 year old with no experience in the football environment be seen as a very good board director, he probably just says yes to her the whole time!

Delia recalls. “I met Roy at a game and he said, ‘What’s it like being a board director?’ I said: ‘My problem is I don’t know anything about football.’

    Nothing has changed!

Michael laments: “When you’re fielding a [club] side without a single Englishman, that’s a nonsense.”
Delia continues: “Football in England is not looked after. You could put all the problems back to the creation of the Premier League. There’s all that Premier League money washing into people’s pockets and going back out to Europe, not into here because we’re buying foreign players.”

It seems their principle are bendy on this one, how long before Webber has Farke fielding 9-10 Germans in the XI?

    And finally, from the EDP:

An increase in revenue in the past financial year enabled the club to also clear two outstanding debts with directors Delia Smith and Michael Foulger. According to the accounts, Ms Smith and her husband Michael Wynn-Jones were owed £1,529,000 and Mr Foulger was due £460,000.

So unless there are other loans, Delia now has no real internal investment and once again the fans are supposed to help to increase the value of the club for her without any risk to herself. Ain't she great!

    Bah!

Cracking post General and their mismanagement of the club is akin to the teenager who on receiving his weekly/monthly wage packet and blows the majority of it each week/month with no thought of putting some of it aside for 'a rainy day' and IMO, beggars belief and there is NO way we should be asked to create a Bond to upgrade facilities at Colney if our finances had been better managed when we were in receipt of PL money.<doh>

Edit - And DON'T get me started on season ticket prices!!!! :steam:

    Absolutely brilliant, GM.
I'm pretty sure £3.5m invested in the development of the academy would not constitute a breach of FFP. It's not like blowing it on a player, it would become part of the club and therefore an asset if and when she decided to move on.
And as the general says, the 'hand that feeds us' freely admits that we need to be "creative" in recent and future transfer windows, i.e. sell someone if you wish to buy someone else. The purse is empty, we're not being fed sod all, we're begging for scraps (but not as much as Ipswich.....yet <yikes> - how the hell are you too blind to see that canary Dave??

And also the often unrealistic expectation levels of fans of various clubs. But to lose all ambition and have no expectations at all to me is sad - I refuse to accept that NCFC will spend all eternity as mid-table plodders in the second tier just because that's our level.
Might be good enough for Canary Dave and RBF but it ain't good enough for me. If the fans can't strive for success and glory, and are paying top prices to watch mediocrity, we may as well cut our losses and go and watch Wroxham, Fakenham, Dereham Town, etc as the article suggests. <ok>

I see that Pochettino had exactly the same concerns about Edwards as DF. He was sent to us in the (vain) hope that we could correct his attitude about his defensive responsibilities. Not likely to figure in Spurs thoughts next season.
