Not defending Carragher. Just think the dads a prick too. He doesn’t sound at all bothered when she says he spat at her, the opposite.
The original video goes for a lot longer. Not defending Carragher, but the dad doesn’t give a **** about his daughters well being. More focused on winding Carragher up than driving. His daughter then says she’s been spat on and he says “oooh, Jamie Carragher has spat on my daughter”. Father of the year. Carragher was Lucky not to be knocked out by a dad who could have gone to the vehicle when stationary, or called the police. But instead went to the daily mirror.
It would be a very strange father who wasn’t enraged by his 14 year old daughter covered in another man’s spit. I don’t think Carragher should be hung from a lampost, but neither do I think he should appear as a pundit again after a convenient suspension, just because he can afford to hire an expensive PR firm.
I agree that he deserves to lose his job. I just don’t think the family are the victims, the little girl is.
On a slightly related note, just to prove not all ex Liverpool footballers are arseholes. Back in the early 90s I had complimentary tickets for the West Ham Directors Box, and who was sitting a couple of seats away but Graeme Souness. At the interval I approached him for a little chat, half expecting to be brushed off. He was at the peak of his bellicose manager spell at that time. On the contrary, Souness thanked me for taking the trouble to talk to him and was an absolute gentleman.
