Whoever appointed him should go too. He did his best but was never a good fit. Saints now have a reputation for sacking managers as well as appointing the wrong person in the first place. Black box more like black hole!
Thanks Mauricio, you did your best but sadly it wasn't good enough, and (although 3 months late), this is a move that's best for all parties. Marco Silva incoming
Silva, failing that Hughes. He did ok at Stoke and we need premiership experience and would stay if we drop.
Let's get Nigel Pearson in, then sack him at the end of the season after he keeps us up, appoint Ranieri and win the league next season. Simples.
The fans will be lifted regardless by the decision. The only way it could backfire is by appointing Redknapp or Les!
The fans attitude towards Hoddle has nothing to do with his ability as a manager. It has everything to do with the way he left us. If he’d waited until the end of the season he would have gone with our blessing, of course he wanted to manage Spurs. Instead he got greedy. An FA semi final and the dream of leading Spurs out at Wembley. If I remember it right, they lost.
Anyone who has the nous and can motivate us to beat West Ham. If we manage that then we are in an OK position considering how things have gone this weekend.
I find some of the comments by fans from other teams on the BBC website to be totally misguided. It is easy to suggest that sacking the manger was the "easy" option but our board have taken approximately four months to reach a decision most fans had realised back in November. We should never have been involved in a relegation battle and the inability to rectify the same mistakes week in, week out are abundantly demonstrative of the manager being out of his depth and possibly deluded. ] I would be disappointed by some of the names like Mark Hughes being appointed but really believe that we certainly need to steer away from those managers who appear to be "nice guys." It did not work with Puel and it hasn't worked with Pellgrino. Many of the players have underperformed this season and there are some like Lemina and Boufal who have it within themselves to do great things. I feel there are others like Redmond who are simply not good enough whereas talented players like Tadic have been inconsistent. The front line also needs to look at it's self and I hope that the new manager gives Gabbi a good run out. It just needs someone who is strict yet inspirational to bring it out of these players. The likes of Hughes, fall way short of this and whilst I think it is great when British managers prove to be successful, in this instance we need someone to add a bit of steel to the coaching staff and get the team playing at the level it should be attaining.
Don't like to see anyone get the sack, but this decision was always a question of when, not if. The players badly need a lift and a manager that has a positive gameplan. Make Silva an offer he can't refuse and get him in.
