It's the flavour mate.... they allow their pigs (and rest of the farm animals) to eat naturally and wait as long as legally possible before The chop. They think the smaller breeds aged more taste better. Having cooked a ham, pork roast, huge chicken, rib eye roast from their farm I can't argue with them lol

Its like tomatos. grow them in ****. I still really don't think massaging them and **** like that kobe beef malarchy really makes all that much extra difference. They are right about smaller breeds though the model of industrial beef is big ridiculous looking animals that the butcher can take a massively wide cut but slice it thing to get the pound of beef from. Smaller breeds like angus are considered better not for "meat type" but cos to ge the same weight of cut you have to make it thicker and thicker is better for cooking. I still don't give a crap what the animals feel though.
Fruit and veggies work the same way. Smaller strawberries have superior flavour to larger ones. Same with most tomatoes, melons, carrots, potatoes, peas. The smaller, usually, the better the flavour.
You're right it is horrible and demeaning. It reminds me of the bite incidents Spitting and biting as a reaction is as low as it gets - you can put head-butting in that category as well.
