I'm for no - too much of a risk still for me. I'm not sure we've got a natural on-pitch leader to effectively manage ourselves.
We clearly need a new manager bounce, because we're not going to beat any of the upper half, and clearly can't raise our game and find the grit and dig in to win the six pointers. That for me means we'll win precisely none of our remaining fixtures.

But I just have to trust the club - it's blind faith. The will of the fans can't be trusted - we are in this mess partly because of the fans not seeing that Puel was a safe - if we never saw anything unspectacular - pair of hands who knew what he was doing. It is all I have left - before the Newcastle game I was still proud of our completely non-kneejerk reaction to manager hiring and firing. As much as Pellegrino hasn't a clue, I felt we could get the points we needed, and get rid at the end of the season, in a clear, controlled, and planned way.

Now, I fear there's no way Pellegrino's even got a draw in him, given that beating we just got - but think we need someone good, and quick! But would rather it be the longer term solution, so no Mark Hughes etc. This is an utter mess, but don't know if an unproven SKD would do it - and if he fails? He could be out, and we lose one of our true servants.

Wigan must be licking their lips in anticipation here. We're practically a bye...

Sacking Puel would have been fine if we’d replaced him with someone competent. If we were sitting comfortably in 10th right now, nobody would mention Claude.

I bet a million pounds someone would think 10th wasn’t good enough and would be harking back to the good old days of Puel!

Not wishing to cast aspersions on Pellegrino’s mental health, but the present situation does call to mind the urban dictionary definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.

Even more appropriate would be the words of Leo Amery MP on the 7th May 1940 during the debate on the failed Allied invasion of Norway. Aimed at the hapless PM Neville Chamberlain, Amery’s words fit Pellegrino’s situation perfectly:

“You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!”

Throughout the start of the January transfer window l kept looking news that MP2 was gone; continually checking to the extent l was almost not looking for player transfer news. When nothing happened after a couple of weeks, l realised MP2 was going nowhere. Since Saturday, l find l have reverted to the same activity again of expecting to read we are finally rid of him. Am perplexed why he still has a job. I sometimes feel sorry for managers as they have so little job protection (being so well rewarded diminishes my sympathies somewhat) compared to many others in normal employment.

Since Saturday, l find myself looking for the good news; find this whole situation unfathomable. There is no basis on which to keep him employed: it, for me, is that simple. Nothing that he has done, is adding any value whatsoever to our squad and, if anything, the squad has regressed under his managment and direction.

Sorry: felt l needed to share that opinion.

Not sure about that Laces. Some of us would still mention Claude. I would. :)

Very true. But would likely be the same if we hadn't too.

SKD as manager is that how low we have dropped. Don't get me wrong I love the guy but surely suggesting he become Saints manager is ludicrous, especially when he's part of the coaching team that have got us in this position in the first place. There are plenty of available coaches out there and i agree anyone is better than MP2 but promoting from within is not the answer for me.

No for me. Replacing one inexperienced manager with one with even less experience seems like madness to me. OK we might beat Wigan (manager bounce) but after that I think it would be no better and would tarnish SKD's reputation too. Alternatively we could throw away the chance of getting to the semi's of the FA cup by taking on SKD. If we are going to sack MP2 then we need someone to hit the ground running, giving the team an almighty confidence boost so they think they are unbeatable. If SKD was that man he would have done it already. I have seen nothing of SKD (nice bloke as I'm sure he is) to suggest he has got what it takes to shake up the players and manage them.

Well I entirely agree with that. But I haven't really seen anyone advocating Kelvin as manager. Promoting from within very rarely works.

It's a Yes to the poll question from me, because I'd rather not hang around and wait until we've got a permanent replacement lined-up. Get rid of MP now, spend the next three weeks getting a replacement in (the sooner, the better), and in the meantime let Kelvin - the only real candidate in my mind to be caretaker - take charge of a one-off game against Wigan; our only game in that three week period.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to give it to kelv, but we need a change.

He HAS to go, today. 3 weeks until the league game gives us a chance.
