Walkers display at West Ham last season was the worst I have seen ... it was an absolute disgrace imho.

Well why are you using the Newport game as an example then? We all know you are in the Kyle Walker fan club Spurcat, i dont dispute he wasnt a top player for us and i agree he's better than Trippier but he's not massively better.
We have also seen Kyle Walker have games where he was atrocious too. Even at City he still has brain farts in most games. Luckily his pace gets him out of problems he causes himself most of the time.
Walker is an outstanding athelete, Trippier is the better footballer.

These meh/ abysmal/ woeful performances from Tripps you speak of I haven't personally noticed. With his performance against Sane aside - who's torn every FB a new one - I can't think of him having any other truly bad games other than when the team itself has underperformed in general (Newport for example). For sure, there's been ones he hasn't excelled in but that's not to say he's been poor either, hence my "Mr Reliable" comment earlier. Walker also had plenty of games where he wouldn't excel nor play poorly in.

I'd say we signed Aurier because Poch must've felt KWP wasn't ready to step up yet and thus needed two good FBs. Maybe he also signed him thinking Aurier would be a carbon copy of Walker? I don't think it's anything against Trippier, let's not forget Tripps signed a new deal at the start of the season, suggesting to me he's a player Poch certainly has faith in, not forgetting - and it may sound silly - that Tripps was given the number 2 shirt upon Walker's departure, which is genuinely associated with a first choice RB.

Aurier's in his first season in English football after not playing for about 9 months. Better players than him have looked dreadful in their first English season and gone on to have great careers. Right now, he looks iffy but he'll get next season from me before I judge him but improvement is definitely necessary and possible.

Trippier's a totally different player to Kyle Walker who is an incredible athlete. I remember Trippier's first games for us and he made Aurier look like Cafu or Alberto Carlos. He's improved hugely but seems to lack confidence sometimes and signing Aurier really knocked him. If he crossed earlier, more often , I'm sure that he'd be nearly doubling his assists but he may be following instructions. We can't afford to buy a Kyle Walker priced player for any position, so we'll have to hope that he continues to improve as he has been doing and more games see him in the form that he showed against United, Arsenal, Real Madrid, etc.

when we lost to City the table looked like this

    1. Manchester City 52 (44)
    2. Manchester United 41 (27)
    3. Chelsea 38 (18)
    4. Liverpool 34 (18)
    5. Arsenal 33 (11)
    6. Burnley 32 (4)
    7. Tottenham Hotspur 31 (13)

In the past 13 matches we have gained:
    1 point on City
    4 points on United
    12 points on Chelsea
    5 points on Liverpool
    15 points on Arsenal
    20 points on Burnley
We have only lost to Juventus, have beaten United, Arsenal, Burnley (when they were doing well) and have draw with Liverpool and Juventus away.

This does not suggest we have been knocked for 6.

Walker is a miss but I do think you and others are over playing it.
If we had chosen to sell him then fair enough but we didn't have a choice.

Martin Krown and Danny Murphy agree that Aurier needs time and has a lot of potential...that's my argument dead in the water then <laugh>

To be 3rd in the table after having a settling in period at Wembley is a huge testement to how well we have done this season. We havent had a proper home ground like the rest have. Incredible.

Aurier is the most erratic player ive seen in a long time. One minute he is making a recovery tackle very few could do then next minute he's diving in two footed and making himself look like a sunday league player.

I dont know wether i love him or hate him.

Out of the 2 choices I definitely love him. They analysed him well on MOTD tonight and it is great watching him bomb forward, he also seems very happy here and that can bring out the best in a player. I've seen enough talent to suggest to me that he will sort out his crossing and his positioning in defence, that could be eradicated by having a better understanding with his CB's, which can only come through time. The kind of mistakes I see in Dave, quite often, the type that suggest he's still settling in. I agree with RCL and DH, people need to get over Walker...he's still brain farting at City. We miss his dynamism in the team and a lot of that came through understanding his team mates, they knew his game, he knew theres, this comes through time...Aurier needs that time too, for me.

Noooo, he played really well when he came on. If he can continue to do that off the bench he could become Mr Super-Sub, give him more time.

  13. Murphy and Keown have been taking their Spurs 'Happy Pills'! <laugh>

I'm all for positive reviews, but it was a bit OTT and if I was a Bournemouth fan I'd be well pissed off as they didn't get a mention.

Guess it was the shock that we were able to lose Harry and come from behind to win 4-1........

Oh well, don't look a gift horse etc

I know, I was just kidding. In fairness to Sissoko, he’s been quite effective from the bench in his last half a dozen games and has done a solid disciplined job when coming on. This is why I mentioned a possible chance as a back up LB, as rose has been so bad.

The only caveat with Sissoko is not to put him in the starting line up when there’s been too many wholesale changes. He’s much better coming on to a settled group of players who are in full flow, and is actually pretty effective.

Ser Davos having a torrid time, and Jan not
    having his normal assured game.

FBs with crosses targeting set to row Z.

Kane off injured in the 1st half.

    And we won 4-1.
That IMHO is the real measure of progression in the
    squad overall.

More proof of the squad ethos right there,
adding to what Dier said in his interview in The Times.
