Match Day Thread Tottenham Hotspur v Bournemouth

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by PleaseNotPoll, Mar 9, 2018.

  1. The sooner he goes the better. If we cannot rely on him as a back up against Bournemouth then he's no use to us at all.
Aurier can be Ben's back up on the left and KWP support Tripps.

We dominated the game but I felt the scoreline flattered us, we deserved to win but it was frustrating at times. We have gone backwards massively at full back, today both Rose and Aurier were poor and Serge`s assist and goal won`t paper over the cracks in his game. Aurier`s delivery from out wide is poor, just 1 decent cross from every 5 if we are lucky, he gets caught out of position too often and is dodgy defensively, and don`t even mention his foul throws <laugh>. Rose is half the player he was before his injury, like Aurier, most of his delivery from wide was pub league standard and whether he will ever regain his pre injury form is anybody`s guess, but whichever way you cut it our DOF`s `worth` is currently way lower than he thought during his summer rant.

  3. Rose offered us the square root of feck all. Nothing defensively and nothing as an attacker. If his attitude was better then I would cut him some slack but that's piss poor too.
He's also clearly a thick SOB as he just has to look at the guy who has surpassed him to see how you should conduct yourself.
    No excuses - you're fired!! <laugh>

I watched the game in a bar together with 2 pints of draught guiness and a plate of fried mushrooms. I felt a little giddy after......was it the booze or the game?

I think we just have to swallow the slice of humble pie and admit that selling Walker was a massive mistake. Aurier simply looks bang-average.

As for Rose, we'll genuinely be lucky to get £20m for him this summer. I think we can forget about Sessegnon.

It wasn’t even 1 in 5 from Aurier, it was 1. All the rest were either delivered too far, didn’t beat the first man, or went out behind the goal. I said it during the game, but I’ve never seen such bad crossing in a game. Both him and Rose were dreadful.

About half way through the season I mentioned how (other than Davies) none of the full backs have convinced me this season, and I think we need to look at this during the summer.

Rose is gone. The guy isn’t even trying. He’s all smiles, but he’s been useless. Whether it’s the injury that’s caused it, or whether it’s effort, he’s miles away from where we need him to be.

Aurier has got no better as the season has progressed IMO. It looked like there was a player in there at one point, but he struggles with many of the requirements of a RB. not to mention he’s so unpredictable and rash.

And Trippier is just limited IMO. Not a bad player at all, and certainly has some qualities. A decent squad player, but like I say, just limited. With Aurier as the other option, I think we are weak overall in that position.

we had no choice...once a player demands to move 2 weeks before a cup semi final and 6 weeks before the season ends, in our last season at WHL then the club have to get rid of as soon as possible before the rot sets in.
Walker behaved like a mercenary and left us with no option.
Aurier is raw and makes mistakes but so did walker until Pochetinno spent a season coaching him his team responsibilities...Aurier may or may not progress in a similar way but we have to be a little patient imho.

True, but although Walker was erratic, IMO he was a lot better than Aurier even before the Poch treatment. Like @Citizen Kane says, Aurier is bang average.

Massive result as we go into our mini break.
Fingers crossed Watford can get something from Liverpool next weekend.

Aurier has proved to be somewhat of a loose cannon, unpredictable and capable of the sublime and ordinary within the space of a few minutes. I am willing to give him time and to see if Poch can coach him into a top full back, but worryingly he does not seem to be learning from his mistakes, there was yet another foul throw from him today <doh>. At present he is not playing well enough for a team at the top end of the PL. Full back used to be one of the strongest areas of our team, these days it is comfortably the worst.

I haven't seen much 'sublime' football from Aurier since he arrived. It vacillates between tragicomedy and solid. 'Sublime' is a level he'll have to aspire to and was the level Kyle was at for much of last season.

We should have a sniff around Callum Wilson in the summer. Looks to have put his injury problems behind him and was very impressive. Strong as an ox, good burst of pace and surprisingly good close control. Positioning needs work but he looks like the sort of player who would thrive with the likes of Eriksen, Son and Alli playing behind him.

And swearing, too. Said something like:
"How? How was I supposed to? ****ing hell."
Alli wanted a pass, but there were defenders in the way.

The foul throws are nothing short of ridiculous. You are taught as a child how to take a throw in. He’s Made 4 foul throws in his last few games. It’s inexcusable from a professional footballer.

I'm glad Poch is our manager and not you lot......Alli and Aurier should have been dropped and Son rested. That gets rid of all our goals and half if our assists.
And we need a decent back up striker and somehow Son doesn't count. If we could have evened up the luck between today and Wednesday we could have won both matches.

Sorry mate but under Harry, AVB and Nice but Dim Walker was woeful at times and a downright liability but each manager persevered cos of his potential.
We owe the same to Aurier imo...he is short of confidence but NEVER hides unlike Rose.
I do not know if he will fulfil his potential but our team is stuffed with players who benefited from being given time such as
Kane, Rose (before he became our DoF), Son (who did not set the world alight when he first arrived), Lamela, Dembele etc.

At this point of the season results and results alone matter...that is what gets you trophies and top four. If the team is disciplined and puts the effort in than we can get results...only Rose should be lambasted imho cos he is lazy and arrogant and if he NEVER wears a Spurs shirt again it will be too soon.
I do not mean this as a dig at you or anyone who disagrees re Aurier but I just think it takes players from abroad time to settle.
