I said a couple of weeks ago that Carillo didn't appear to be the man to save us as he hadn't scored a goal and cost £20m so to me seemed a strange purchase. People suggested he needed more time quite forcibly with comments such as ffs. Well its 4 games on, he still hasn't scored a goal, doesn't look like scoring a goal. We are rapidly running out of games and we dont have time to give some one time to get used to English football. I wish we'd bought Theo now, although not sure our tactics would have helped him
If there is any truth in your theory, then it just further supports the fact that we haven't adequately replaced Ron. I always got the impression that Ron was big enough - most likely because of his standing in the football world - to command respect and, more importantly, authority. We certainly didn't blindly stick to one method under him. I don't for one second believe that Les is picking the team. But I do suspect his has had more control under Puel and MP.
I don't think he was bought to score goals. He was bought as a target man who needs people running off him - people like Theo, or the Spartak Moscow guy. Which brings me back once again to a point I keep making; those supporters who think the manager is to blame for all our woes need reminding that he has not been backed in the transfer market, and neither was his predecessor. Or the bloke before him, who left unexpectedly with a year to go on his contract.
January was not the time to sign Carrillo. However, we are where we are, dropping Carrillo will no doubt be another confidence knocker but I think it’s needed. Back to basics and win ugly, we’re already half way there......ugly.
I agree completely with what you say. I also believe that Les Reed must have some decision on how we play and the tactics he uses. It cant be down to one man, and its clear to me why we aren't playing very well, surely they must see the reasons, so why aren't they doing anything about it. To say that he wasn't bought to score goals, of course he was. He's a forward so surely the point is to score goals, but I do get that he is meant to be a target man who provides goals for others, but how many assists has he made? Considering the predicament we were in January we are in an even bigger pickle now, why did we buy only one player then? What is going on in the club that we dont know about? We had that money from Virgil but signed just one player. I dont think Gao is able to inject any more cash, and he spent it all buying the club. What liability does he have and could we be in a situation where he might go bankrupt. Where do we stand then
Imo opinion we should have paid whatever it took to get Theo, especially after selling VvD on day one of the window. It seems we did have a Plan B at least; failing to get either over the line was unforgiveable.
I blame everyone: Reed: Dodgy **** with the academy lads and goes silent soon as we do bad. But always about when we are doing well. Krueger: Never in the UK Kat: still holds onto shares and still on the board. But since she sold most of her shares is just chilling in China Gao: not even heard from him Pellegrino: not backed, but also not good enough. His speech yesterday made no sense at all Players: Some don't give a **** and some aren't good enough. We need a total overhaul
I have heard that Austin is fit to play but a had a fall out with the manger about only playing one up front. Austin was not happy to play up on his own and was told they he will pick a player who would be happy to play up front on there own.
Agreed, but he wasn’t a prolific goal scorer before we signed him. We already had Gabbi or Austin to play the loan isolated forward. I don’t want to player bash, but Carrillo was never the answer. MP won’t drop him anyway.
He said himself weeks ago on soccer am he will ready after the international break .....your source is incorrect.
I actually like what he offers us. The issue is not him but the fact he Is in his own. Play someone with him, or five yards behind him, working with him.
Its funny, I seem to remember him placing a pin point header back across himself for Gabbiadini's equaliser against Burnley. Probably the only player we have who could have done that in terms of heading ability etc. Obviously he is a ST after all he is there to score goals, but when we get people around him it shows what he can do.
I dont think he's very good. I certainly havent seen anything to explain why we paid nearly £20m for him. He tries, but doesnt really get stuck in and i havent seen him win many headers. He isnt a Pelle, who was target man and could make his own chances and score
He makes Burnley’s strikers look like Cristiano Ronaldo. He is a taller slower Shane Long, except Long can win the ball in the air. I said I was excited to bring him in, as no one could be worse than Long, but I think the moron in charge has actually managed it.
All of you giving Carrillo stick, need to reign it in. He doesn’t look like a top player, but my god how the hell your can criticise the fella when he’s been given absolutely **** all service is beyond me. He’s come into a team not playing well and getting **** all support. I’m not sure what you expect.
