Palace have pushed City, Spurs and Chelsea very close. I have a horrible feeling about that game. Thank god we have a 4 point cushion - we'll need it.

Hoof header goal.. twice.. that can only be explained by bad defending.

As Klopp said, and I agree, we didn't get the second ball.

Their plan worked, ours didn't but we went for a win, definitely, and they went for a draw with a win chance. I think we should have been more pragmatic.

Bad day in the office lads. As poor as we were, VVD still had a sitter and we should have had a penalty.

I don’t see this united team getting any better under mourinho - they will continue to grind out results and win games but can’t see them progressing past City.

We on the other hand, klopp is most likely going to sign 2 CM’s (Keita plus a controller) which will help us dominate more games.

Palace with Zaha and Sakho are a completely different proposition. They were largely hopeless against us defensively and I said that day they’ll go down unless those 2 get back quickly.

    not on their own.

can you name any game for everton where a big cb follows a big striker and leaves a gap behind him.

it needs klopp to swap them. in virtually every gme ive seen with a big lump up top they pull onto the easier cb. i never see team trained shape change.

    no you cope.

for first goal lovern was in better position to win header and stopped.
the lads on here rightly said yesterday no cm anywhere off the goal kick to go for second ball... imo this should be ox. and then rashford is inside taa in the channel which is rank positioning by taa.

3 mistakes. all foreseen... but not only by mourinho. we have seen similar by several sides. nobody competes aerially with vvd

Even if we decided to be negative, it would make no difference if we continue to carry weak links (Lovren) who will continue to make mistakes.

The strange thing is that I’m sure lovren was good against lukaku at Anfield this season?

klopp said i think they practiced it but then nobody was there. from a goal kick thats a huge error.
imo we are not capable of anything else so w just have to accept that on the day utd were better all round.

When we had Big Dunc, sides often used to let him win the long aerial ball, and drop off and defend the flick on, as if the CB challenged and invariably lost out then he’s left a big gap in behind. It’s standard, teams do it against Crouch for example

yes so what did lovren ox and taa do.

lovren in position to win header just stos and doesnt leap. no cb dropping behind. rb too wide.
if we did drop off as you suggest and go narrow there would be no goal.

this is why you and i are in agreement that klopp got it wrong.

Agree. A draw would have been a good result against a team that was happy to sit back.

To me the control in the last 30 minutes of the match was an illusion. To be fair I don’t think Klopp would be fooled by this. We had most of the ball because they let us have it and let us pass the ball in front of them. We needed that extra creativity and the width to break them. We hardly tested their GK but we should have had at least a pen.

This is subjective but we seem to be a team that cannot grind out a result. When we play well (critics will say “when the opposition allow us”) we are smashing and we score a hatful. But when we face a tough team, we need to be more savvy.

Any way which ever we look at it now we are in a fight for top 4. Still hopeful for 3rd or 4th but we cannot afford to drop more points than Chelsea until we meet.

It would be absurd to say we wouldn’t miss a player worth £140m. Who did we replace him with?

You've been waiting to say that for a long time. :)
No. Because all he does against teams that sit back is cut in from the left and take a pot shot from 20 yards or so. About 1 in 6 are on target, and how many of them would be good enough to beat de Gea?
