It wasn't much of a dig mate, more a pertinent question. For the first goal he was stood in the middle of your half marking "space", for the second he was near the centre circle quite near Sanchez (surely that was a midfielders job) then dropped back into his "space" when the long ball was played. Admittedly he did get back to block Mata but again where were the midfielders. I know you go for zonal marking at set pieces but surely not in open play.

Shouldn't Bailly have been anywhere else but smashing the ball past De Gea? Who was he marking?

It still stands that both CB's can't mark the same man. What we needed was to realise that Lovren wasn't going to get much change out of Lukaku and for a midfielder to be alert to him winning the ball and cleaning up.
Tbh, Trent's inexperience showed today - he could have done better several times. But it's a team game, and there's no point in players standing watching their team-mates struggle. We needed to reorganise when we saw the same thing happen several times - but we didn't.

Crap at marking then isn't he? Failed offside trap and 4 yards behind his target.

He made Lovren look composed. Pawson carried him.

Let’s not blame the players only. Jose had a plan to target an apparent weakness. Shame Klopp couldn’t instruct one of these MF players to help out as United flooded the LHS.

Good point, but it's easy to say with hindsight. I doubt anyone expected that first half to pan out the way it did. Once on the pitch, little input is available to the manager and it's up to the experienced players out there to read the situation and adjust.
Who knows what was said during half time, but the second half was very different anyway. Utd then played more the way I'd expected them to from the off and those early situations didn't happen again.

For Utd it was pretty much "job done" by half time so we shouldn't fool ourselves with the amount of possession we had in the 2nd half. Jose was very happy with that.

I agree. All I was pointing out was that whether or not we addressed the first half problem during the break is moot, because the second half played out differently.

We also shouldn't fool ourselves that we didn't create chances. VVD missed a sitter and we made multiple opportunities where Man Utd were forced to foul and rely on a #bentasfuck ref to bail them out. Pawson even illegally stopped the game during one of our attacks for a non-head injury.

Sorry but I noticed that Lovren was targeted. Klopp should be able to see this even if he doesn’t have the advantage I had with TV view. As a fan when I see something isn’t going well I think, sort it out sam!

As i said yesterday I'm still of the view that for the first goal Can should have been competing with Lukaku when its on edge of centre circle not Lovren which left a huge gap in our defensive line. As others have said if Lovren was designated to do that a MF has to get back to plug the gap left.

Did you not also then notice Klopp going apoplectic on the touchline screaming instructions? How often do you see that make a big difference?
Short of running onto the pitch there's sod all else he can do and if players don't listen or understand it won't change anything. Once they're on the pitch the players are largely on their own and it's up to the senior ones to solve the problems.

In the post match interview, Mourinho said they hadn't planned to sit back, Liverpool forced them too.

    Quite right
Perhaps sending them to the the same "How to win a penalty" school as Calvert-Lewin ,who i notice got another one with his trademark throw himself into defender & fall over routine, would be a good idea.
