Rodwell will get £70,000 per WEEK in the same division.

It's a good story but unlikely to be up to date. In 2006 the BBC ran a survey which reaveled:



which I'm guessing is where that figure is from. You'd imagine it's gone up in 12 years!

That said, even if it has doubled he's still earning their annual salary each fortnight and in a year likely to earn around 50% of the average overall wage budget of a League 1 team.

 

Oh to be fair according to this information (apparently 'official data' but who can really say) it was just under £70k per year as recently as the 2014-15 season.

I followed it up with a second reference which i found which suggests it could be true as of 3-4 years back which is amazing to think that the average wage hasn't gone up in a decade given the amount of money in football.

 

Or possibly just highlights how the PL are hogging all the extra money coming into football to the general detriment of the game.

Some of the TV revenue should be redistributed down the leagues to all teams bar Sunderland.
