No, you don’t understand Meowth! Don’t you understand how many points from safety we are already? The league position is utterly irrelevant- we are defo going down-apparently.
Time to borrow Leicester´s get out of jail card, and look what happened to them the following season.
Just got back from the match. I wasn't expecting a win but I didn't expect such a pathetic loss. From the first minute Newcastle wanted it more and made Saints look very very disorganised and lacking in fight. The score could have been 5 or 6. Saints couldn't pass the ball, keep the ball or defend effectively. I know Saints fans will say this has been going on all season, but this is the first time I have seen them be so overrun by a team supposedly struggling. Newcastle looked like they knew they needed a performance, whereas Saints just turned up. The manager can't be blamed for players being so poor and lifeless. Good job other teams are as bad.
All today has made clear is that the blame cannot soley be laid at Pellegrinos door. I've made my peace with his tactical incompetency, but even with that, the players should be fighting. We got turned over by a very average Newcastle side, a side that knows the predicament they too lie in. Hats off to them. maybe its come to late, but perhaps this is the wake up call the players need to finally see the situation we are in.
Yeah players weren't up for it, but I explain that as a culmination of a long term mismanagment by a incompetent donkey that is Pellegrino.
At least in 2003 we were just a **** team trying hard not to go down. Now we are a good team, mismanaged and going down without a fight. Today is the most disappointed I have ever felt watching a Southampton team. That was a disgrace.
Don't think anyone is saying that we'll definitely go down but you can't deny it's looking more likely than not right now. 1 win in 17 and only 5 all season - 2 v wba - of those five too the only convincing one was against Everton under Unsworth who's probably the only manager worse than MP who's been in the PL this season. From 6 matches against the promoted clubs we've had 5 draws and a defeat which is awful frankly. I'll keep believing until it's over but I'd be lying if I said I could see where the points are coming from as things are.
Yeah, it's hard to suggest that fans are overreacting. From the start of November on, we have 15 points in 20 matches. Only West Brom has fewer. We have been in dead-cert-relegation form for more than half a season now. And now we close with the toughest run in of any team.
We have known this guy is no good for months (well many of us). He has no idea whatsoever. The team are not fighting and from the moral standpoint that infuriates me. However they have clearly given up because the bloke in charge doesn't know what he is doing. It has been pretty obvious from about October. Ultra cautious, tactically inept and unable to motivate the players.
This. Getting to Wembley will give everyone associated with the club a real buzz and the feeling will certainly paper over the cracks in the build up. I just hope the team puts some fight into the game against Wigan because they will be so up for it.
Yep same - I've pretty much made my peace with this season, come what may. I want something to feel good about now.
Surely Wigan have a game midweek prior to the Cup and again another one after the Cup? That will give them 3 wins in the space of 7 days.
Yeah definitely, can't wait for next week. Anyone who has read my posts over the years will know how I much I love cup competitions and it's still possible that the worst manager we've had in my time following Saints could end the season as our second most successful ever. Yes things are a bit **** at the moment both on and off the pitch but we don't make the FA Cup quarter finals very often and it should be a great occasion. I'm certainly buzzing for it anyway. Some might not like me saying this but to be frank if you can't get yourself up for a FA Cup quarter final, a very winnable one I might add, then regardless of all the other **** then I'd question if football is the sport for you.
Yeah we definitely need to show some fight and I will add to my above post that if things do go wrong up there then I can see it getting very nasty in the stands.
Well I can’t be bothered to check, but I don’t think I would have to go back too far to discover exactly that sentiment. How many posts on here already have us in the Championship?
