Maybe. All depends on the new owner I suppose. But my point is that he will be holding a strong hand, if he wants to gamble on a quick return to the PL. Some - possibly most - of this squad will go. But there's no reason why it shouldn't be the ones the club are willing to let go.
Looking forward to them rolling out a player, lets say Hoedt this week, saying we know we are in a hard moment but we are all together and can improve and get a European place. Then we will have a few little update videos throughout the week of Long bagging from 25 yards against a load of cones and dummies in training after a slick move. To then get smashed by League One giants Wigan on Sunday.
I disagree totally that we're holding a strong hand for a quick return. Anyone blase about the challenge of getting back out of the Championship hasn't paid a lot of attention to the Championship in recent seasons.
Pellegrino says 'football has ups and downs' and we have eight games left to bounce back. Hmm... *sigh*
Is he wrong, though? The players were awful today, and they should take responsibility for it. Praising Hojbjerg for saying the right thing doesn’t mean MP doesn’t also share blame. Or it shouldn’t anyway. Just saying, I’d be pissed off if the playeyers came off the pitch after that sorry performance and blamed the manager.
It’s not a gimme by any stretch. I’m not taking minimizing the challenge. But staying up is no picnic either. And I do not think we will stay up next year absent a massive and successful rebuild, which is hard to do as a relegation favorite. There’s no quick fix here. It’s not that I want us to go down or think that is advantageous in some way. I just don’t think it matters much gibpven our current situation. There are some advantages to going down, there are some advantages to staying up.
The only advantage to going down is that we might clean house. That's it, really; beyond that, we have a really short window to either get back up or strip the team bare before financial disaster sets in. Our owner is making loan payments on the 200m he borrowed to purchase a Premier League team, payments he will not be able to make in the Championship.
I’d guess someone that knows they definitely won’t be available to do the match thread the week after?
I truly think it is now too late to even change the manager! They gave up due to no leadership. Simple as that as far as I can see it.
