Luckaku is playing well when the ball goes up to him, we have to deal with that. Gomez and Matip should be in there with hindsight.

 

We've completely ****ed ourselves before a third of the game has gone conceding two. They'll happily sit and soak it up now and even if they score one they know they can probably keep doing that before we have time to score any more. Been all over them for the last 10-15 mins since Mata missed the overhead and haven't even had a shot

 

Tbf when we played everton last year we let lukaku win headers but competed well for the 2nd ball. Klavan did well at this in both games

AA was so afraid of his man he allowed him to come inside and look like an idiot.

Then he just let him shoot around him without even making a challenge for the 2nd.

And I've been watching him since, caught ball watching a couple of times instead of watching the runner

TAA has really been shown up here, Lovren is a bag of ****e but we can't deflect the former's failings onto him just because he's an easy target

 

Tragedy is we played ok... forwards were always going to have a tougher time vs a Mourinho organised side.

But our defence (trying to be nice and not single the **** out)....handed this game on a plate to them.

Look.... we have to be saying in the dressing room we win games by 2 or 3 goals all the time so no different ....but... mentally? I don't see us being strong enough.

 

All Lovren needs to do is let Lukaku win the ball and go for his second touch. But let's not excuse TAA one moment if Lovren goes for the ball he should fall off in anticipation of Lukaku winning the header. He could have made himself big for the second goal.

Second half needs changes and I'd take Chamberlain off for Wij and Gomez for TAA. More important is Salah needs to show up he is staying to close to Young.

Final ball has been poor. We've got ourselves in to decent positions and the spaces look to be there but our final ball has fallen short, you can't do that when you gift 2 goals in 20 minutes. Draw is the best we can hope for but we need to score early and throw a bit of caution.. It can go either way.. Get back in to it or be on the end of a hiding.

 

Changes at the back will only keep the score down, otherwise it's got 3/4 -0 written all over it. Not sour grapes to say United aren't playing brilliantly, in fact, I think they have another gear in them here if needed. Apart from the VVD sitter, we haven't really had a shout, and comes to something when you say that our only way back in is a set-piece. Can't see anything on the bench to change things either. Just try and keep the score down.

 

Haye to say it but Mourinho as won the tactical battle so far. The team Klopp put digests he expected Man Utd to park the bus and they haven't. We'd have been better off with Hendo or Wiji rather than Oxlade to get that press going.

In possession we've not been quick enough. Players are out of position and we lack movement.

I'm confident we'll score but can't see us getting three without reply. Can't see us getting two without reply tbh

Salah needs to get on the end of balls and get linked up, every time he gets it near the area, he has a man and Matic to beat. He's not gonna walk in and score

So if it’s 2v1 and Lukaku passes to Rashford for an open goal that’s TAA fault cos it’s his man not the other 3 defenders that left him on a 1v1.

Lovren did nothing for gosl 1. Followed man but didn’t challenge and left huge gap behind. Either challenge or drop back to pick up the flick on. Don’t wander up behind him then stand a yard off so that you can’t effect anything.

Vvd and taa sgoukd both then cocer inside but lovrens bottled it everytine v Lukaku so far. It’s like watching him v Kane again.

 

the ref is only giving them the 50/50's that we'd get at Anfield. Just not about the ref.
