You need to get real about what is important and what is just bragging rights. 2nd/3rd is **** all, beating you main rivals gives you a little bit of pride regardless of if you win anything for it.
We will always be your "cup final" because it seems finishing above us is more important to you than progressing in cups in some supporters minds.

I've not seen one comment saying they'd rather finish second, third or above Man Utd than win a trophy. You imagined it?

You're claiming beating Man City in a dead rubber is more important than finishing as high as you possibly can! Can you not see the hypocrisy? What bragging rights dies that give you exactly? They've won the league ffs!


PS...top four vs a trophy is a different argument UNLESS the trophy is the CL or EL since winning either of them gets the same as a top four finish anyway.

 

To a real manu fan beating city would mean feck all if it also involved city rompimg to the title and Liverpool leapfrogging utd late on in the season .

Saying there's no difference between 2nd, 3rd and 4th is just an excuse. There may not be much difference in the immediate reward, but league position is an indicator of a sustained performance level - a far better indicator than a cup-winning run.
Will I be happy with 4th? Yes, but I'll be even happier with 2nd.

2nd to 4th means nothing other than you are a runner up and get CL next season.
As for the first line, many seem to think going above us tomorrow (if that is the case) is some kind of achievement. The same people will tell you how **** we are

personally think 2nd - 4th means **** all except for some local rivalry bragging rights.

Hell Spurs pretty much tossed 2nd aside a few seasons back when they couldn't catch leicester anymore.

even 4th has taken 2nd place to a europy pot in recent years with both klopp and jose resting players to progress through to the final

Be honest, since we hit "the big time" 25 years ago we have had many rivals, Arsenal were great for a few years then Chelsea took up the batten. Now City are the team to beat and we have had 5 years where we fell well off the pace, if we wish to get back to the top you are irrelevant. Beating you is always nice but means little in the grand scheme of things.

 

Nice try at diversion but TBF at least your message has been consistent as in the past you have talked about how it doesnt hurt when utd lose etc and with winning trophies etc is all that matters.

Of course it hurts when we lose, Burnley beat us and that hurt like hell, so did Newcastle. If we lose to any team it hurts and that includes Liverpool but is not exclusive to them. Hurt is not catastrophic though unless it is a game that changes the season for you.
