When we signed this lad on a free much was made of his goal tally ; 7 from 12 starts. looking into this a bit more, 4 goals came from games against Wigan and WBA.

I've only seen him in the flesh once against Arsenal and I could tell him and Shola simply don't gel as they play very similar games.

So have we signed this lad to lead the line , or to gel with our "new" incoming No9?

And if Sammy keeps impressing, will he even get a game?

I hope the lad gets fit and starts banging goals in but so much seems to be riding on the incoming but unknown talent.

very good point! although i think who his goals against are irrellevant, premier league goals are premier league goals!

i still think pardew hasn't made hi mind up on his forwards yet, though i think he is set with the rest of his team!!

He's doing ramadan apparently. Might be a reason he is looking sluggish if true.

Best and the new striker up front for me. With Ba as back-up.

Ba's career record is really good, 1 in every 2 games so he must be a good player. The trouble is that when you have two upfront they have to be different types of players, you cant have two big men who have strength rather than speed, you need someone quick so they can make the runs etc Its worrying that the forward we are supposedly after is the same type of player as the forwards we already have. Someone like Defoe (but someone younger) would be ideal.

We need a speedy player to play off him.

I had a go at a couple of my mates last night for writing Ba off so early, its absolutely terrible how quickly our fans can turn on a player who's settling into a new team and has literally only played one and a half games.

Give the bloke some time he has got a very good goal scoring record throughout his whole career, the bundesliga is no joke!

I'd be willing to put money on the fact he'll end the season on more goals then Shola, Best and especially Lovenkrands.

Plus hes fasting for Rhamadan along with Tiote so thats possibly why they've looked a bit off the pace in the opening games <ok>

Alot of people sticking up for him using "similar striker to Shola + Best" as an excuse, but how does that affect his touch, passing and all round game which has been abysmall when I've seen him play.

Wind your neck in.................just found this on your twitter : The amount of people writing off Demba Ba already is ****ing sickening, honestly no wonder #NUFC fans hav such a bad name around the country

    .........................

Nothing in my posting was critical. I'm just saying from what I've seen we don't seem to have anyone to get the best from him. Even if we sign "new" striker, we may have to rely on existing "talent" should new man get a knock or something worse.

At no point did I refer to your post specifically, some of my friends, posts on twitter and some people on here have wrote the bloke off before hes even had a run of games, and I disagree, I think we do have the players needed to assist our strikers, Ben Arfa & Cabaye are capable of a decent ball over the top of a through ball to the strikers, Gutierrez can put in decent leg work these days, and Marveaux looks like a tidy little player.

We do still need another striker but I dont see any reason to write Ba off yet, just see how he gets on and support him <ok>

Oh, and in the words of Cwarr07, if you dont like it, unfollow ;)

I wouldn't look to intensely at his game last night because we seemed to have adopted the Allardyce approach for large swathes of it.

Once we kept the ball on the floor and moved it around; the team looked better.

Best and Ba are similar players and as such; they are easy for a defence to cover. Give Ba a foil to play with and he'll improve.

Cant be arsed with this, if he scored 2 against Fulham he'd be our new hero. Just fickle.
