Only 2 goals? In which case I've seen them both, away at Orient and away at Blackpool, the latter was a screamer. Remember his league debut at home to Norwich last day of the season when we both went down to league 1, think he played left back and looked very comfortable, been my favourite player for years
Think Tamer Tuna made his debut in the same game - an example of the ups and downs of football I guess. A great servant to the club. Had it not been for injuries then he would be playing comfortably at a higher level.
Robinson has said that those involved in “Slag-gate” have been disciplined. Will Solly be captain tomorrow - to be honest he is about as useful in that role as @baraettmattesvensson in an episode of The Worlds Tallest Man. Slag-gate is a great chance to appoint a real skipper - Jason Pearce or even Bauer.
Top man is Solly. I was at Blackpool when he hit that screamer then came running to the other end of the pitch with the Charlton fans. Great moment that was, when we had a football team and club. "Chris Solly Solly, I'm taller than Chris Solly"
Sad to see Solly, a good club servant over the years, now so out of form and struggling. Opposition scouts must be drooling. So much went down his side today.
Now that Johnnie Jackson has all but retired from playing, Chris Solly is the last survivor from the days before Duchatelet and his regime got hold of the Club. It was only just over four years ago, but in that time our first team squad has been plundered and recycled two or three times over. Solly can remember better days at Charlton, days that he and JJ were no small part of. In some ways it is probably even tougher on him than it has been on the fans to see what we have been reduced to now.
Solls needs a rest... class is permanent and perhaps he needs to accept the Scouser's offer and go on his summer holidays now and come back for pre-season.
He'll never play for another professional club, the next one he plays for will be non-league. A bloody shame as he is a very good footballer.
It's very sad, but when you watch Solly you can't help but remember what he would have done in certain situations. A buccaneering charge down the wing, and a speedy return to defensive duties- instead he'll stop and pass the ball back inside. Getting tight on to a forward, knowing his nimble footwork would prevail- now he'll stand off and hope the forward gives him a chance to tackle. He could have played at a high level but for his knees.
Watch Peterborough’s 3rd goal , Solly would have dealt with that in his sleep a couple of years ago. He won’t get slated & rightly so as he is the last link to ‘proper Charlton’
^^^^^^^^^ I had a hard job identifying the one on the right, I had to ask my son in the end. Any guesses?
