Well, as much as back in the day I preferred Melody Maker, it's still quite sad that the NME is going just online.

I'm saying that as an early adopter of technology and fan of e-books.

Just got me thinking how sad it is that recent generations won't ever feel the same as we did about things like that.

    Anyhow, RIP my youth.

Never read it, but I agree with the sentiment - I still buy CD's , DVD's and newspapers I still like to go in the bank and talk to a human - tinternet is good but I don't like the way the whole world is lived on it now

I did read it for a time in the mid to late 00s, and it was okay. It's became absolute rubbish in recent years though unfortunately, and ever since it became a free magazine it's demise was inevitable.

It's demise follows the rise of streaming music, and I don't think that's a coincidence. As great as things like Spotify are, having something physical is always going to be better. At least LPs have been making a comeback though, CDs needed to end and LPs are great.

I haven't looked at a copy for years, but remember it with affection, it was essential reading back in the late 70's.

PS - Pay attention Happy, this was discussed on the RIP thread when it was announced two days ago. Slacker.

Around the time that I started work, (1961), I used to like my NME fix.
