Well, as much as back in the day I preferred Melody Maker, it's still quite sad that the NME is going just online.

I'm saying that as an early adopter of technology and fan of e-books.

Just got me thinking how sad it is that recent generations won't ever feel the same as we did about things like that.

Anyhow, RIP my youth.

I did read it for a time in the mid to late 00s, and it was okay. It's became absolute rubbish in recent years though unfortunately, and ever since it became a free magazine it's demise was inevitable.

It's demise follows the rise of streaming music, and I don't think that's a coincidence. As great as things like Spotify are, having something physical is always going to be better. At least LPs have been making a comeback though, CDs needed to end and LPs are great.

I haven't looked at a copy for years, but remember it with affection, it was essential reading back in the late 70's.
