Good Morning Everyone Looks like Liam Cooper might be out for a little while. Certainly won't be fit for tomorrow. please log in to view this image Shame the hierarchy didn't listen to us when we told them time and time again, we need another centre back. The YEP wrote that Weidweld was 'shell shocked' after being dropped for Wednesday nights game against Wolves. It is said that it remains to be seen if Wiedwald’s Elland Road career “has any life left in it” after Paul Heckingbottom made the huge call to dump the German to the bench despite the unavailability through injury of his deputy Andy Lonergan. Surely its difficult to see Weidwald being involved wearing Leeds colours again?
Haven’t seen Billy post for a while but I’m sure even he would agree this season is dead. We’re overrun with midfielders, Phillips, Vieira, Cibicki, Pablo, Dallas, Forshaw, Sacko, Alioski, Anita, Saiz even Murphy and Klitch who are out on loan yet we have no cover in defence for two injuries. I said in another thread recruitment has been poor and not just lack of quality, it’s been poorly thought through. Morning all...
Felix was brought in because the team was going to be set up to play fast attacking, possession football from the back to front. All the players brought in were supposed to be able to do that. They however forgot to make the players aware that accurate passing is needed for that to work and if you give the ball away you have to know how to defend. We ended up with a team who had forgotten how to pass and were therefore playing defense which they are crap at. Felix had the 3rd best shot stopping figures in German football so deemed a great find, he is also well versed in long throws, accurate kicking and his distribution was excellent so get the game going again quick from the back. He however wasnt supposed to see the ball keep coming back at him every few minutes because we couldn't keep the ball or tackle, so this flustered his natural game. he cannot play that type of football, its alien to him so he will never make it with Leeds as we will never afford a team who can play a Man City type of game where the keeper is an extra outfield player who hardly gets to stop shots
Good Morning to Matt and co from a very sunny Bardsey It cvould be a blessing in disguise having the unreliable Cooper out for a while and from what I hear PH likes to give youngsters a chance so bring on Paudie O connor at 6 feet 3 he will give us the height that we need in defence PF will remain in goal and we need to strengthen the left side so drop Anita and bring back Le Boc Midfield Forshaw needs a new partner again bring in some new face it may work and then you will be hailed as a genius It ain't rocket science its called common sense. We need to take a leaf out of Arsenals books after last night display at Milan you can turn things round The difference between Leeds and Wolves Willy Boly is on loan from Porto with a buy out clause of £40m The Wolves team must have cost over £60m without buying him That's what we are up against
Dont know where Doc gets his stats from the fooking Beano I reckon So if Felix played for Man City he would be a world beater would he ? you paid 400k for him Doc top keepers earn that in a month
Good morning all from sunny East Yorks The CB situation was my main beef from day one. Last season Bartley & Jansson were the rock of our side, Cooper only played in the cup competitions in the main under Monk. We brought in Pennington & Shaughnessy who are clearly not good enough & made Cooper captain. We are now in a precarious position should Jansson receives another yellow card plus Captain Chaos & Shaughnessy injured as we only have the mighty Penn at the heart of our frail defence. As for Felix a clown between the sticks , he's had his chances under both coaches. So pleased BPF was given an opportunity to prove his worth, the young lad did well
All well and good but far too complicated. the clue is in the position name goalkeeper. The job description must say... to stop goals when possible. That being the case he is ****e.
Morning all. On the match day thread I see the lads discussing formations.Fair play to them that have the time and energy.Personally, I think its irrelevant what way this rag tag bunch is set up. If youre going to spend 80% of the time chasing the ball, it matters little whether its a 442 or 451 or whatever. It mainly applies when attacking and we dont do that very often. Hope I dont offend, but Felix is atrocious. Im old school and believe first requirement of a keeper is to command his area and catch balls, allowing the team to press forward while he decides who to pass to. This clown flaps around, either misses punches completely or punches it ten yards, often to an opponent. Means the defenders are constantly under pressure
I am older school than you. The first requirement is to stop goals going in. The second is to be able to catch.
Morning pal. Shaughnessy is out for the season. Worse case scenario, we would have to play Berardi as centre back. I am absolutely amazed that we did not sign Bartley in the summer or at least seriously attempt to. The chemistry that Jansson and Bartley had last season was incredible. It was the championship equivalent of Radebe and Ferdinand. I believe that we were lucky with the injuries last season especially to our defence.
Good morning. From a stunningly sunny Killinghall. Good news having worked a second all-nighter to finish up a project sleep allowing I am around today... Bad news Mrs glory is back today.
Morning Eire. I remember first interview. He said he would have us in a formation that was difficult to break down. Unfortunately I have not seen much of this yet
Good morning all,Yeah well were all aware of the mistakes being made at the club,The big test will be,will we learn from them for next season,i realy hope so,starting with the dismissal of Orta, as his advice is cr**.
Morning all. For years one of my biggest gripes has been our inability to keep the ball and what has seemed like a lack of desire to chase down/close down players. When better teams, and there has been a lot, lose the ball they have always been on us with pressure causing the mistakes. This does not just mean this current lot but nearly every squad since O Leary left, with the exception of Larrys promotion team. We have been half a step behind other teams like this for a long time regardless of the players or coach. Why cant anyone get it right?
Radebe is a Leeds legend For all the stick Ferdinand receives from Leeds fans Rio was one of the best CB's I'd seen since the days of Charlton, Hunter & Madeley of course who was adept in any position he played. Rio was sheer class in the short-time he was at Leeds just as Yeboah was when he played for us. Ferdinand, Strachan, McAlister, Radebe & Yeboah would all be on the bench in my all-time greatest Leeds squad
That’s a post worthy of a thread of its own, and a considered response on where in the pantheon of greatness players through the years belong. It’s your idea but I would suggest a 1-17 and then a vote to come up with a not 606 all time best team.
