Arsenal I can agree with, City not so much. Their second team would still be huge favourites against us

If Arseanl were to put out a weakened team against Southampton and Saints won, this will cause a huge furore with other clubs similarly placed fighting for survival It won´t happen.

Arsenal would be quite likeable if it wasn´t for that awful chav that is Jack Wilshere. Arsenal are surely better than having him around. He would be perfect for West Ham, a club supported by the chavs of Essex.

I have just read on the BBC website that PSG and Basle are in trouble with UEFA for the conduct of their fans with regard to letting off Fireworks and flares, On Saturday when I atended Sevilla v Athletic Bilbao, fans were searched on entering the ground. I had a wáter bottle and the top was removed. Obviously, the screening at both the City of Manchester Stadium and Parc de France was lacking as fans managed to get these ítems into the ground.

Wilshere's a very good player. Arsenal need more players like him who actually show some guts.

It's easy to get things such as flares etc. Into stadiums if you really wanted to.

Is this the City that scraped a win against us at the Etihad with literally the last kick of the game?

He is a guy who smokes, sings stupid songs on after a cup final on the bus, and is often pictured outside nightclubs when he should be home with his partner and child? He is supposed to be a professional footballer. He is not fit to lace the boots of one of his predecessors in the Arsenal team, Alan Ball. He cannot hold a candle to the likes of Michael Thomas, David Rocastle, Paul Davis, Liam Brady, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit, Cesc Fábregas or his current team mate, Santi Cazorla. I wouldn´t want him anywhere near the Southampton team. He is not good enough but because he is surrounded by good players, he looks better than he actually is. He would be an average player in the Leeds team and might be lucky to get on their substitutes´bench

Happens quite often. Utd binned off the league last season in favour of trying to win the EL. Liverpool did the year before that (I doubt we'd have finished 6th if Liverpool had continued to play strong XIs).

And it's not just in relation to the EL either. If Leicester were to make the FA SFs, but face a midweek PL game immediately beforehand, I wouldn't expect Leicester to put out a strong team in that PL game.

Accept your view Brendy, but if it happens and Saints were to gain 3 points as a result, the likes of West Ham, Newcastle and Stoke will be mighty peeved and will ask questions of the PL.

It looks as if Atlético have recovered their mojo with a 3-0 win tonight in the EL. They are going to win the EL Alas I cannot say the same for Athletic, already trailing 1-0 against mighty Marseille.

2-0 to Marseilles. This is appalling. A team that plays against the best in Europe in its own league should not be losing 2-0 but as I saw for myself on Saturday, Athletic are very poor this season and lack pace in defence and midfield

I watched him in that Brighton game. His arse is nearly as big as mine!! I think he’s going to go backwards very quickly soon... if he’s not careful.

I get what Tom is saying, he is one of the few overpaid players in the arsenal squad that actually looks like he gives a Dam. Not the most technically gifted but not bad and gives blood sweat and tears for the cause.

Having said that wouldn't want him here and goes in the whingeing category with the likes of Mark noble who is the player you would quite happily slap with a kipper.

I see a pretty good passer of the ball, a good tackler and good at tracking back and pressing. Tbf that's what he is on the pitch for.

I don't see a lot of skill and he doesn't score enough goals and too often his decision making is wrong. I don't like his dirty side which he wouldn't need if he was more technically gifted.
