I won't argue that but there's something that brought in Lucas Moura for less than he should have cost and allowed us to sign Davinson Sanchez when Barca failed. We're a really well run club with great facilities based in London that really gives youth a chance and plays great football. Additionally, we have Mauricio Pochettino who seems to be able to do a sort of Mentalist thing to attract some players and then really improves them.

We're out there competing for every young available talent and we will get some of them, increasingly it will be the better ones as the club progresses. As West Ham and Leicester and Everton and even your team have discovered, having loads of money's not the complete answer. You have to be a match to the players abilities and ambitions and be able to spot top talent. Currently, we're a good fit for players who are a step below the top CL teams {Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Moura, etc.] or are young and obviously highly gifted [Sanchez, Eriksen].

If we can limit the outgoings to 1 per season, then we should be able to trade effectively and keep to a high level, much in the way that Atletico Madrid have done. They have far less money than Real or Barca but they are always there having a go. If we can keep on the right road, we can be that team too. Not easy but there are clubs like Sevilla, Monaco and the like who also do exactly that. It's what Arsenal used to be really good at....<cheers>

We need to be like Atletico and Ajax, rather than City, PSG or Real.
We can't compete financially even if we wanted to, so there are other routes available, though they're not as easy, of course.

Buying youngsters with a lot of potential and making sure that they have the right character is key.
Picking up quality players that just haven't worked at certain clubs but fit our system and mentality is another.
Bringing through as many academy players as we can is a third.

We couldn't afford an Alli or a Kane as they are now, nor could we pick up an Alderweireld or a Vertoghen at their current levels.
Being able to show prospective signings what they can become at Tottenham is a massive draw for us, though.
Keeping Pochettino and backing his decisions is key to that, for me.

You don't try to solve the impossible.
You try to get the optimal solution with what
    resources you have to hand.

Which is what Spurs seem to be very adept at.

Probably not a good idea to be like Ajax, given how often they get raided.

And yet they still keep producing top quality players and winning trophies.

If only someone would sit them and Everton down and tell them "This is why buying an entire first team in the summer doesn't work."

They were on the decline when we faced them in 2011.

That season they won the Scudetto - although the team fell apart soon afterwards due to the number of key players that were getting on.

It's the only reason that United are as high up the table as they are.

I think De Gea's been miles ahead of every other keeper in the Premier League this season.
It's probably the only position that's as clear cut in the division, in my opinion.

2-0 already. Didn’t expect that today.

So there's some added incentive to beat Bournemouth...

Terence Trent Alcoholics-Anonymous is having a mare.
Lots of potential, but he's still very inexperienced and his mistakes are getting harshly punished today.

What's happened to Clyne? Seems to have been out for a very long time.

So is lovren. Swear we’ve seen a performance from him like this somewhere before...

As good as Liverpool are in attack, their defending is gonna be so costly when they actually play someone decent in the CL.

Gotta credit United so far, they’ve set themselves up so well to negate Liverpool’s strengths.

You expect it from Lovren, though. The youngster's generally been good, so far.

I've been surprised by how much Utd have been on top, to be honest.
I expected them to kill the game until late on, then try to nick it.

Mousers blaming Lovren for both goals, no doubt planning to burgle his house again.

Personally I'd lay the blame on Oxlade-Chamberlain. Allowed Lukaku a free header that directly led to the first goal, and simply didn't bother tracking back for the second until Rashford had already punted it goalwards
