Nah, man for man our attacking options are far better. We'd destroy you in an open game. Not that we will see it under Jose.

We might see it if the RS score the first goal. At 0-1 he will have to let loose.

    Martial, Lukaku, Sanchez, Pogba

    Vs

    Mane, Firmino, Salah, the Ox

Man for man it's no contest - we're miles ahead.

The only factor in your favour is Klopp has the forwards playing with freedom and confidence, whereas Jose has the attackers playing, well... defensive.

When it comes to a clash of styles, then honestly I'd have to hand it to you. But on player quality you're clearly outclassed :emoticon-0148-yes:

Being absolutely objective I'd say Salah and Mane are the equal of Sanchez and Martial and certainly score more.

Lukaku is a way better centre forward than Firmino and Pogba v The Ox is an no contest so yeah, I'd agree we should be better but not sure on miles ahead all told.

Also Liverpool's attack is actually playing as a unit whilst ours is still functioning largely as individuals.

That's the key issue imo - if our players have a good game and play to their best then we will smash them. But if Martial runs down blind alleys, Sanchez gives the ball away every other pass and Pogba plays like he's on YouTube then Liverpool's combination play and passing game will give them every chance of winning.

Would you? I think Salah is a one season wonder, a bit like Mahrez a couple of seasons ago. Neither his performances with Chelsea or Roma suggested he was capable of doing what he has this season. Mane is good. I just think Martial and Sanchez are on another level to them both. Or I should say, would be on another level if given the same freedom to attack.

Well, exactly. We can't really base it on should be as at the moment they aren't.

I saw Liverpool at very close hand against Swansea and it's fair to say, based solely on that evening, that their much vaunted forwards are more than capable of turning in utterly average performances if they are defended against well. They were ****e.

It can't be argued that they're usually good though. At least, Mane and Salah are.

For all the praise that the RS are getting for their attacking performance, no one seems to have noticed that their away form against the top 6 is nothing to write home about. They are different teams at home and away.

    City: 5-0
    Spurs: 4-1
    Arsenal: 2-2

One point out of 9 is not that great. Of course we could play so **** like Maribor or Porto that they put in a top performance and reverse that trend.

But the reality is that united have to attack them and to just sit back and defend would be what they really want. We would be playing into their strengths. And JM would have missed a great opportunity to put some distance between us.

If we play to our strengths we will smash them. If we lose it will be because we will have played absolutely ****.

That may well be true, but it doesn't alter the fact that Mahrez won the league that year. Ultimately we have better prospects and future potential than Liverpool, but right here and right now their players are playing more to their potential than ours so we can't take anything for granted.

And I have to say I don't think giving Martial and Sanchez more freedom is the answer. The more freedom you give them, the more they put their heads down and focus on scoring for themselves, rather than playing as a team. If we could get our front four, in whatever combination, playing as a unit like Liverpool have done this year, given our superior talent we would be a lot closer to City and a lot more comfortable in 2nd.

I’m not a Liverpool fan whatsoever. Sorry I meant to reply to this yesterday.

Anyway, if you’re confident, United are slight outsiders with some bookies. Very rare you’ll get 9/5 on United at home.

It's not just about skill, though is it? Application and attitude come into the equation. Firmino is 'way better' than Lukaku in our system.

Salah is not the type of player to get 'found out'. Only next season can prove this. His style is similar to Suarez.
