Except if we swapped Wenger for Conte as then Chelsea would start beating us again! Conte = Wengers bitch! Is Conte actually tactically great? To me he seems to basically always play the same way with a defensive formation and hit on the counter. Against some teams Chelsea are better so have more of the ball, against others like Barca they have to play better off the ball. How many times does he actually change up his tactics for different games or make changes to tactics during games?
Wouldnt mind Conte but I would rather a manager that played more expansive football. My other problem with Conte is that he clearly is'nt the best in the transfer market. Allegri would be a better choice I think. If we are going down the disciplinarian route then I would prefer Simeone. Still Conte is a good manager and I do think he would do better with this side than Wenger is doing.
I would take him in a heartbeat. I was thinking actually there seems to be a shortage of Top quality DM's at the moment. Neither Bender brother have lived up to the hype, Wanyama hasnt really improved from his Celtic days, M'Vila went from being France's 'next big thing' to playing in Russia and Krychowiak is at West Brom. Still N'zozi is much better than Elneny or Xhaka. Probably not very expensive. Great in the air, reads the game well, and can play with both feet. 'Post game he was asked If he 'misses playing for Stoke?' His reply: 'hahahahahahahah'
Spurs conceded 9 less PL goals with Wanyama as DM all season, in addition to the attack scoring nearly 30 more + himself chipping in with some PL goals. His presence was a tangible part in al that.
Yeah.. Look how much better United are doing with Matic in their side. Or look at the impact Kante made at Chelsea when he arrived. A good DM will keep you tighter defensively but also allows the team more freedom to attack. Wanyama is decent - I just dont think he's top class.
I'm not sure who actually is. I could not tell you who the Messi/CR7 of DMs is/are, if my eternal soul depended on it.
Kinda the point I was making on the other thread. There is'nt alot of TOP TOP class DM's at the moment. Kante has won the league at two different Clubs and rarely puts in a poor performance. Busquets for sure but he's way past his best. Javi Martinez when he can stay fit.
I yearn for us to get a proper holding midfielder. It's a position that we've been crying out for for years. I really hope that with Mislintat on the recruitment side of things now that we get it done this summer. You can have all the attacking talent you want, but if teams continue to cut through us like butter then it counts for ****.
Allegri proving to be a tactical master again. Spurs go 1-0 and he changes shape to a back four. - Worked like a treat, Juve go on to win 2-1. Doesn't matter how bad things are for the Arsenal its always fun to laugh at Spurs.
What a silly sycophantic comment - they laughed at us when we were in the cl (and they were not in it) and got knocked out... Cant laugh back because we were not in it is a bit idiotic.
Too right I am! Our club is being held in bondage by that psycho tyrant.. Wake everyday looking forward to the day when he leaves! Not a nice time to be a gooner. Only thing that keeps me going is Spuds falling flat on their smug faces!
Does not matter if we are having a good season or not, always good to see Spuds choke! The way I rejoiced at the final whistle, you would have thought I had friggn won the lottery. As long they don't win the league or the champions league, then I am happy! They can console themselves with garbage like they were the better team over 2legs blah blah... We can say what we like about Wenger, he has won (and achieved more) more in his time than those clowns have ever won in their history! Just a shame, Wenger has decided to erode his legacy.
What might concern me if I was a Spurs fan is that the team has reached it's limit. I look at the Spurs first XI and struggle to see any areas they could significantly improve. And yet they are still not close to winning anything. They may well get an FA Cup this year, but christ even we can win those and we're in dire straits. I look at many teams and think they could improve. Liverpool - generally horrendous defending and a rubbish keeper could be improved. United - poor attacking in a lot of games could be improved. Chelsea - manager can't inspire his players it seems so manager could be replaced which would improve things. Arsenal - manager and central midfield woeful, both can be improved. Spurs? According to even their own fans, their squad is incredible and Poch is the best manager since sliced bread. They've got an incredible defence, a solid midfield and the best striker in the league. The fact that a team winning absolutely nothing has no obvious way of improving is a bit concerning I'd have thought. Yes they could expand their squad with players of a similar level (but let's face it, you can't fill your bench with players of similar levels ever, they're always a bit weaker). And that would allow them to keep their genuine first team fresher for longer with more games. But they're still left with a fresh first team that can't win things.
