It was a dead tie and we got what we all expected but the game still had to be played, even if it would've been even better if Porto just gave up and said forget it lads good luck next round, which they really should've done after their arse pounding. Good to rest the stars and give the second tier players a run out anyways

I genuinely think we can beat anyone in this competition and win it, we're more than good enough, the other teams will be very wary of us and probably wanting to avoid us for as long as possible, if possible

I’d take anyone other than English team.

Want to be playing the big european teams not a all Prem affair.

Madrid, Bayern, Barca would be awesome seeing them back at anfield. The armopshere would be incredible. Especially little Couts face if we knocked his new team out <whistle>

Did we need to play attacking attractive football though? What’s wrong after being 5-0 up being sensible and keeping your lead, getting w nice clean sheet and boostin gthendefenders confidence (5 clean sheets in last 6 CL games now btw, not bad for a terrible defence).

If wed gone gung ho attack like normal and conceded silly goals everyone would be moaning again. We all said we wish the team could control a game when ahead and that’s what they did... 5-0 up at HT why try push for 10 when you can coast and preserve energy?

    Me too .

Paradoxically I am hoping that we get a non English side in the Q/Fs. I think the likes of Real, Barcelona, Bayern will be far more worried about how to play us than City, Spurs or the Mancs (if they go through).

But on our day we can beat anyone.

Re. English teams.........Citeh would give us a game, Spurs too. Wouldn't mind Chelsea or MU, I'd be confident we would see them off

I am with this. Would prefer to avoid an english team if possible. Apart from the obvious choice {ROma/Shakhtar} i fancy our chances vs Bayern. Would also not mind having a proper crack at madrid to make up for the joke side Rodgers picked against them last time.

Feel sorry for the fans but we did what was needed. Didn’t expend too much energy, kept a clean sheet, no injuries, win the tie.

    Job done.

Imo we'd have beaten them by 3 or 4 if we were pushed to do so.

they came with a weakened side as well so that adds to it. They must be disappointed.

There is possibility of playing English team in the quarter final if four to five English teams are in it.

    hard to know.

    LFC in
    Real in
    City all but assured
    Bayern all but assured

Tottenham/Juve. away goals advantage and home advantage spurs. Juve didn't look able to cope with the intensity of spurs game.
Utd/Seville. home advantage to mancs, away goals issue. Utd are my favorites
Barca/Chelsea. Cheslea might raise their game but at nou cmap? will be a shock if barca not in.
Roma v shaktar. tight one. Roma need to win. have home advantage

If i were betting i would go spurs, utd, Barca, Roma.

but i'd not be bettering much cos theres bound to be one shock in there.

"Never walk alone": Iker Casillas thanks Liverpool fans for Kop end ovation in final Champions League appearance

The Porto goalkeeper got a huge round of applause when he came out for the second half in Tuesday's goalless draw
ker Casillas has thanked Liverpool fans for paying tribute to him during Tuesday night's goalless Champions League clash at Anfield .

The Porto goalkeeper was making his final Champions League appearance in the last-16 tie, which was all but over after the first leg following the Reds' 5-0 win in Portugal.

    >
The Real Madrid and Spain legend didn't play in that game, but he took over from the hapless Jose Sa for the return leg at Anfield, which ended in a drab goalless draw.

Oxlade Chamberlain makes it into the Quarter finals of the Champions League within 6 months at Liverpool, something he didn’t manage in 6 years at Arsenal
