Personally I think we should break with tradition when we play Man City and march out to Tony Orlando's 'Tie a Yellow Ribbon.'
He is right in principle (something inoffensive to some is offensive to others) , but wrong in practice. I wager a lot more people are offended by the Nazi swastika than by the Star of David, for starters. It also by definition means that the FA must now be jobsworth Nazi on the display of Armistice poppies on international/ league kit for English teams, as for some that is "going to be highly devisive" .
WTF is he doing referring to Swastika's and religious symbols? The yellow ribbon is a symbol of freedom to some and something akin to rebellion to others. You stay the **** away from any controversy. There's no need or benefit to go 'off piste' and upset Catalans or Jews or Communists or anyone. If it breaks the rules just say that. That's all that's needed. Anything else is just dangerous and stupid. The FA control our national team and we play other nations with symbols on their shirts with religious connotations including Malta, Libya, Algeria just off the top of my head. Putting that head into the lion's mouth with no need whatsoever....that's a sign of gross incompetence. He has to go. Today....if not sooner.
Just as the following phrase exists : Not only must justice be done, it must be SEEN to be done. so there is a kindred mentality within the "right on" brigade. They cannot stop themselves if their lives depended on it.
To me it's an attack on freedom, more rules mean less freedom. If someone wants to announce to the world that they are an absolute fackwit moronic racist twat bastard by wearing a Nazi Swastika then FFS let them, then there's one less person I would consider giving the time of day to and wouldn't have to spend my valuable time figuring out that I needed to blank them.
I know... It's so embarrassing to have such a stupid twat representing our football. Large parts of the football world don't agree with the poppy on shirts...it's little wonder that we're not getting the World Cup when the people at the top of the game are so crassly and openly ignorant as to ignore others and tell them what's right or wrong.
The true WUM, Trevor Bayliss, has sadly departed us. Classic Brit inventor, and what a contribution he made.
Anyone dabbled with the football index stock market? Initially thought it was a scam/ joke but seen more and more people on social media get on it and seems to be growing in popularity. If you've traded on it before, had any luck?
Yes I play around on it and it is reasonable. I only play with small amounts as I am not a gambler but it is a bit of fun. No luck involved.
I'm thinking of chucking £50 at it and see how I do. What strategies do you usually go by? Do you opt for the big players or try and find hidden gems that'll gain big boosts?
Anyone got any decent Netflix recommendations? Tv is absolutely ****e and I’m in need of a new series to get stuck into. Cheers guys
What sort of genre you into? I was a relatively late comer to Netflix (last summer) but find I barely watch any programs on tv now because there’s so many decent shows on Netflix.
Yes, don't think you have to watch an entire season of The West Wing over a weekend and smugly proclaim to everyone that's what you did. Doing so will only make you look like a poser who, due to having to devote eighteen hours of their weekend to absorbing West Wing episodes because of the arbitrary deadline they set themselves, will fail to follow the plot due being so focused on having to cram in another four episodes before lunch that they have no idea who half the characters are. You get the feeling that I'm not a fan of binge watch culture...
As KH says - what genres are you into? I get hooked on the strangest series and end up binge watching. Last year I found ‘Grimm’ of all things. Just finished ‘Altered Carbon’ series - poor mans cross between Blade Runner and Inception. And o the subject of Di Caprio films on Netflix, watched The Revenant last weekend. That’s 3 hours of my feckin’ life I’ll never get back
I don’t mind any genre as long as it’s decent watching. Over the last year or so on Netflix I’ve seen Narcos, Stranger things, El Chapo, Ozark, Mind Hunter, Dark, Money Heist, black Mirror, and one or two others. Like I say, not too bothered with genre. All of those came from recommendations, so as long as it’ll get me hooked, I’m easy.
