Know what you mean, Cromer, but being a football supporter is hardly a rational business. As long as it's a possibility it remains just that. I don't think we will get near the play-offs but I also know that it's still possible. Eventually that will change when we're mathematically eliminated, but until that happens the possibility is still there. We currently need at least 25 points from our remaining 12 matches, or just over 2 points per game on average. That's possible, but the problem is that we need all of the teams ahead of us to do worse than that. That's why it's so unlikely, but people will still hang on to the 'possibility' as long as it still exists.
I can see where Will is coming from (he ALWAYS has been a 'glass FULL guy!) and unlike a lot of us, he's young and enthusiastic!!! I can see Will's hope, but that's all it is. IMO, ANY hope of us gatecrashing the top 6 died in the previous 4 games. Derby - Carson having the game of his life/Basil's penalty being saved 1p5wich - the officials ignoring the fact that CZ was fouled for the 1p5wich goal Wolves - Reed trying to chip JR, rather than go round him Bolton - Leitner missing an easy chance. If ALL of those events HAD gone in our favour, we'd still only be 9th and be relying on the teams above us haemorrhaging points, so, sadly on this occasion, I'm OUT!! Or to put it another way, I REALLY don't believe we'll make the play-offs, but as you say Rick, it's not over until it's mathematically impossible.
OK, OK; I'm not getting TOO excited, but this has GOT to be Good News. http://readnorwich.com/2018/03/05/norwich-target-leistner-rejects-new-deal-union-berlin/ IF he does want to play his football at NR1 it would mean ANOTHER player signed on a free and look how the previous one has performed!!!
As a free agent, the price works for us, but he will be for everyone else too. I would be surprised if we weren't outbid on wages if he is coveted by any other clubs. Our problem could be finding a spot for him if no one else leaves. That said, Klose might well go as a higher earner coming into the final year of his contract, Zimmerman and Hanley I think might be hot property having got better and better as the season has gone on which would only leave us the untried Raggett and the previously unfancied Martin or Franke. Sign him up! Bah!
We can but hope General and he came to CR, as he had previously worked with DF and I'm hoping this article is proof that he MAY do a Trybull - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-leitner-on-championship-workload-1-5421514 Of course nearly every club in the Championship (plus any of the 24 in the PL) could offer FAR more than we could afford, but let's keep our fingers/toes etc crossed that he does a 'Huckerby'.
Looks as though Sunderland are hurtling towards the relegation trapdoor and it's just a case of who joins them.
SOME good news tonight - Godfrey and Morris have a trip to Wembley to look forward to, as they are in the final of the Chekatrade Trophy. #WellDone
So close for Kane. Making a really good chance out of nothing. He really is incredible. He continues to amaze me whenever I see him. All the fuss at the time of Rooney, Shearer etc. I think Kane is a level above. There is nothing this guy can't do. Also, Son is such a great player. The pace, stamina and work rate of him. On top of that, he is so cool when finishing.
Strange how they keep banging on about how Juve should have had a pen. Yes they should. But Spurs have had 3 decent calls for Pens waved away. They don't seem to keep bringing that up! I think 2 of those 3 were Pens.
I don't feel sorry for him. He hasn't offered to drop his wages or cancel his contract. He's on a damn sweet deal. Money for nothing.
Strange reaction to a player when non of this is his fault. Compassion not your strong point. I would think that Jarvis is not enjoying any of this
I understand FMl's sentiment, but it isn't Jarvis's fault. None of us would offer to leave or write off our wages if we were in his position. It is frustrating, but my anger about the whole sorry situation is reserved for the stupid; manager, board and any one involved, in offering a known sicknote such a contract at his age (Wasn't he also injured at the time of signing?) Bah!
Plus what makes it worse it that he was here on a long-term loan basis when they offered him a permanent contract. WTF did thy do that for when there was absolutely no need. Plus he's still getting paid (probably more than several of this season's 'newbies') substantial wages.
