If Josh Sims hadn’t said what he said this weekend, nobody would be posting that the players have been brainwashed into thinking that. That’s like a media soundbite.

.... experience of winning the champions league maybe. The experience of a relegation survival??? I’m not so sure.

Huge pressure on Newcastle this weekend. 53,400 fans to get pissed off if they don’t break us down early.

Do you really think they are brain washed? Things are tough at the moment, that’s all. Fans reach for anything when the water gets a bit choppy.

I apologise for being a piss poor fan with no backbone but I didnt watch the Stoke game. I'm pretty sure I've seen it all before and 90mins of my life playing football with a 9 and 7 year old is far more entertaining and worthwhile.

I've given up hope of a change, any change, so am now cheering every result good or bad as each game is one game closer to the end of this. Longest. Season. Ever.

I'm honestly not fazed at the prospect of going down. I'd rather watch competitive football in a lower division than sit through another season like this. 5 Wins from 29. How many weeks between wins I wonder...?

What ever happens, I can almost guarantee that next season will be different. This has been the strangest season where nothing seems to go our way....though I am still reasonably hopeful of staying up with a steady run of points rather than a string of wins to relax the nerves. Next season (if relegated) we will be making every effort to gain promotion (so I don't predict a major clear out of players....they got us relegation, they can damn well stay and get us out of it) or there will be major changes because everyone has had a fright. Let's hope this season is an outlier and we return to be a top half side.

I don’t know about being a piss poor fan, but if you didn’t make your kids suffer through the game, that’s piss poor parenting :)

That’s how you toughen ‘em up for life!

Out of interest, what do you feel hasn't gone our way? We've been lucky with injuries compared to others and had a very kind set of early fixtures which should have provided us with a flying start. Other than VVD being a twat, what has affected us?

Come on Fats, everyone knows that the money from the Virgil sale was all spent on an experimental mind control lab, in the room where the Black Box used to be. Still early days yet, but just wait until they finally get it right!

I am sure that we will be making every effort to be promoted, should we go down, just as I am sure the fans of Sunderland and Hull thought the same, when they were relegated.
As for keeping the players together. I’m not too sure if that is good or bad, given our inability to consistently win games with this lot. All you need, in the first game, is for a decision to go against us, or to concede a late equaliser/winner and the “Here we go again” mentality could kick in.
If we do go down, I would hope we would bring in a handful of Championship level battlers to give us the fighting spirit that we would need, and to compliment what I imagine will be a core of players that have come through the academy plus those not wanted by Premier League teams, as I expect all of our “elite” (for want of a better word) players to be out the door ASAP, to better their careers.

My Spurs friend says it's child abuse to get my lad hooked on Saints.

    I call it character building.

We are managed by a hopeless, incompetent buffoon and we havent adequately replaced players. Both caused by our own idiocy. Staggering ineptitude to flop as we have really.

Les Reed is definitely hoping to get shot of the current fan base by making a quick descent through the leagues. Not sure who he’s hoping to bring in to replace them though!

Watford away just for starters! Those two (robbed!) points alone, would have Saints further up the table....... or hadn't you noticed?

I'll grant you that but I don't buy that we've been particularly unlucky, just plain awful.

That's true, Pellegrino hasn't really made his own luck because his style of management has been far too passive for my liking.

We have rather shot ourselves in the foot, has there been a quicker decline than ours in the PL before? The Skates dipped quickly after Redknob left them IIRC.

Out of interest Dell, would you agree that Les Reed has done a pretty abysmal job over the last couple of seasons?

I just wish he`d go for it - some we`ll win, some we`ll lose. But we get more for a win and a loss, rather than 2 draws.
