Sounds like they are talking about having the winter break in February around FA Cup 5th round time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43215246 I wonder where we would go on a mid-season break?
The moaning about the FA Cup being devalued by top clubs not putting out their strongest side is looking a weaker argument as the FA are making a good job of it on their own. Where are they going to stop changing the rounds to one-off games? If that plan was in place now, you wouldn't have games like the one tomorrow where Rochdale get to play at Wembley.
VAR in its current form seems to be causing more confusion and hassle than a average incorrect decisions does! I am sure it will become very useful for officials but it seems for now there are some real issues about lack of communication and how its used.
Yes - makes you wonder whether to start with VAR should only be used if a manager asks - and is limited to say three requests per game
Good point Arthur, should be requested via the 4th official and a limited number per game would save the referee all the grief caused by last nights FA cup comedy show
Steve Parish of Palace made a good point - once it get used for something everyone will want it to be used for anything slightly contentious! And officials will be under pressure to apply it by players and managers.
They will keep him till the end of the season, I would guess. The good news for us is that Arsenal really have to win the Europa League now, and we play them between their two games against AC Milan.
Wenger doesn't seem keen to quit so like you say might have to be forced out. I wonder if they will be motivated by Deeney's comments after the first game or are they not motivated like that? Lets hope for once Man U get a goal or 2 - could do without Palace getting a bonus win as such.
I’ve spoken to a few Arsenal STHs today. They are all wanting us to beat them on Saturday to help bury Wenger! One even said she fears Europa League success as this would also give him reason to stay another year. Best case scenario, said another was for him to announce retirement before Europa League final, come out to a guard of honour for that, and win it. Suffice to say, NZ is right about timing and Mark raises the interesting point re TD9’s comments. But have Arsenal the wherewithal to do anything about Troy’s comments? Can they come out fighting? I don’t think they have ugly men of steel any more. I’d be more worried if Steve Bould wasn’t on the bench but was playing.
