I honestly believe that he will be on the bench for the rest of the season. I know Marko will try to shoot me but i just think keogh is better and he works really well with McCormack. I have always thought that becchio has done a job at leeds but i also think he kinda overachieved last season. The issue i have with becchio is he doesnt do the amazing things all game, he works hard but doesnt pull anything off and then scores a fantastic goal from nowhere although he scuffed the one he just had the moment before And on that i think we'll buy keogh in January. Anyway my views, what do we reckon, get keogh in January, will he replace becchio when becchio is fit again?
Josh... dont agree fella..he has an amzing two seasons. McCormack is a very different player and may well play well of Becchio Keogh as played 2 games...bit early to be dumping Becchio on the bench also Keogh has not scored yet.... Becchio gets goals and is a excellent link up player.....
When Becchio is fit then he will play instead of Keogh. You will get more goals from Becchio than from Keogh and that's coming from Grayson himself. Becchio more or less made every goal Beckford scored for us and he will do that with McCormack or Nunez too.
Maybe Keogh is better than Becchio, but it will take a hell of a lot longer than two weeks to come to that conclusion. Hope your'e right thought for one reason. Becchio is superb and if Keogh proves to be better, he'll be a huge addition to the squad
If Keogh was that good he'd still be at Wolves. He'll do a good job for us though, but he's nothing special. Becchio edges it for me.
Keogh is good. He holds the ball up well, has a good first touch and his link up play brings the best out of McCormack. He should definitely be signed on a permanent. However, Becchio is better. He's stronger so can get involved in the physical side and win headers, holds the ball up just as well but he also has the added bonus of being a goal scorer. He'll get 20 goals a season, whereas Keogh will get 5-10.
it will be great to have a choice a strikers as we get into the thick of the season. Injuries play an important part of any teams sucess or failure.
How anyone who thinks a 5 goal a season is better than a 20 goals striker is beyond me, and its not like becciho is just a goal scorer. Ive heard it all now. And before anyone says it, mccormack wasnt fit last season, nothing to do with not been able to play with Becciho.
Liw McCormack has one of the best first touches ive seen for a striker. I think once he gets his confidence up he could be great and once Becchio is back deffo a good partnership! I also think McCormack could be moulded into a midfielder
Becchio is as good a hold up player as Keogh and as good a goalscorer as McCormack. The way I see it we could rotate between Becchio in a 4-5-1 and Keogh and McCormack in a 4-4-2 to keep all 3 fit (Becchio suffered last season after playing too many) and keep the tactics fresh. Keogh reminds me of Becchio in L1, great link-up player and runs his socks off but not a prolific scorer (but saying that Luc still scored 15 a season in L1).
Kissa Totally agree, i always thought Mccormack was a good footballer, but had doubts how he could fit in at Leeds. 451 doesnt suit what so ever. Simon Agree, lets do abit of rotating, Gradel and snoddy were flogged to death last season
Exactly, aside from our 1st choice attacking area last season (Snoddy, Howson, Gradel and Luciano) we have Ross, Keogh, Nunez, Sam, White (if we get in another LB) and possibly Forssell waiting in the wings. We should utilise that.
I'm defo biased, but Becchio is a LEGEND!!! Better than Keogh overall and genuinely cares when he pulls on the shirt (not saying Keogh doesn't!). Becchio, when fit, could and should start games. However the worse case scenario for him would be that Grayson puts him on bench for first few games to build up match fitness, which makes sense. I like Keogh and I hope we sign him and dump Paynter, but if we play 4-4-2, it should be Becchio and McCormack, and if 4-5-1, Becchio up front, whcih as we know has worked in the past. BECCHIO RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is all...
Becchio is the better of the 2 but will have to play himself back in to the team if Keogh keeps up the good work.
Why would I say that? I agree to a point (and I'm sure I've pointed that out... I don't remember saying Keogh was anything less than the perfect partner for McCormack). Becchio won't remain on the bench the rest of the season, but if Grayson's got any sense, Becchio will have to work to get his starting place back.
McCormack has a lot of attacking mid qualities, and a long of winger qualities. He can't half deliver a cross for starters. He's got his confidence up now, and it's showing with the goals he's scoring - I expect to see far more from him.
I think one will sub for the other to start with, especially as SG will want to be sure Becchio can last 90 mins when he comes back. Who wrote that little Xmas ditty on here; "The weather outside is frightful, but his goals are all delightful, Becchio, Becchio, Becchio" ? Completely stuck in my head every time I see his name.
