Glad it's not available to watch here in the US then. (well not on any mainstream media... Could pay extra to watch just it) On the other hand, I really liked the Orville (besides the first two or three episodes... It had to find it's feet). Orville is the true Star Trek successor. The feel is very ST TNG, only with added humour. No teleporting though (well except for Charlize Theron in one episode). I like the no "beaming" though as I felt that was a major source of plot holes in Star Trek. Why didn't they ever think to just beam enemies on board into space? I'm more looking forwards to Orville's season 2 than I am Discovery ever being available on Netflix in the US.
It's done very well with a lot of tounge in cheek humour (there was a joke about the Queen blowing Phillip so not just tongue in cheek), didn't think I'd like it but I'm hooked.
Rotten Tomatoes rates it quite high as well so worth looking at. I'm going to do the OJ Simpson thing next.
Good film on tonight at 9 on Sony movie channel - The Walk. The true story of the frog who did the tightrope walk between the twin towers. Don't watch it if you have issues with heights
Orville is so much more like Star Trek its a joke. Could be to do with Brannon Braga, who produces Orville and did TNG, VOY and ENT. Discovery just seems like they've tried to reinvent the wheel, only to produce tank tracks. Sure it works on the right vehicle but just seems clumsy on Star Trek. Also pisses me off that they feel the need to go back over the old Story, like we need more Kirk and Spock era. Means you've got to stick to very strong rules and if you don't whats the point in all the other stuff you've made. And they need to stop ****ing about with the Klingons. The first alteration was needed as TOS didn't have the money to do what they wanted in the first place.
Watched the first episodes of two superficially similar shows this evening. Vikings and Britannia. I've heard a lot of recommendations for Vikings on here and Amazon suggested Britannia to me. Vikings was really good right from episode 1. So rare a show to be good from the get go.. I have high hopes. Britannia... Might be ok, but based on the pilot,Vikings looks the superior show. More interesting story line in EP 1.
vikings is brilliant. then less so then brilliant again then less so. Its just very good. stick with it Britannia is ****e imo. its a butchery to great some pseudo world and really doesn't care baout the history its set in.
