Exactly, Chelsea were anything but boring 1700s football when they won their last title, they had great attacking football.

City's best defenders v Chelsea were Aguero Sane De Bruyne and co, not Otamendi and so on who had to do very little

 

I can (almost) understand the tactics Conte used at 0-0. He was repeating his game against Barcelona which he nearly won but for a mistake by his CB. But even then he surely shouldn’t surrender possession to such an extent.>80% against a team like City is really committing footballing suicide. With 5 defenders against 3 attackers Chelsea was left with 2 midfielders drinkwater and Fabregas against the 3 mobile and talented City midfielders. Which allowed City to keep probing non stop until they got their goal

Conte ‘s excuse that he didn’t want to lose 3-0 or 4-0 like Arsenal would have done the managers of a relegation team proud but not the champions. When the champions go 1-0 down, do they not usually say we’ve got to get that goal to avoid getting beaten? Or do they say”OMG we’ve got to avoid getting beat by 3- or 4 goals?

Like us Chelsea only have the CL to play for.
There are to my mind a few reasons why they set up negatively.

The fact they are champions is irrelevant - this year they are out of the top four and so a point at city would have helped them, even at one nil one chance could have changed it.

Going into the Barca game how much damage would a routing have done to his side. Conte can now point to two games where his team were totally outplayed and nearly got something out of both by defending well.

Conte can’t just ask his team to play like that for the two CL fixtures so it makes sense to play it against other teams to try it out.

Is it pretty - no
Could it turn out to be clever - yes
Could also cost him his job like, but I don’t think he is arsed.

Will be interesting how they line up against us

2005 we parked the bus for 3 rounds. The final was crazy but we did bus park

Cheslea was 2010 and they parked bus v barca and in final etc.
utd in 2011 parked bus and barca still beat them easy.

since then anyone trying (atletico lets be clear anti football club under their manager) has failed

I think if you are good enough to get to a final then you should be good enough not to go do that.

So FA chief Martin Glenn insults Jewish worshippers by classing their religious symbol the same as a Nazi Swastika, then he apologises to Kick It Out(anti-racism), the fact that he said it and apologized for saying it shows he's broken the same rule FA rule as Suarez, Terry and Ferdinand.
He should now be sanctioned with a fine and loss of earnings like the players mentioned above, but as we know the FA are a law unto themselves and don't follow their own rules on a regular basis.
