Following a meeting with Cheltenham's clerk of the course Kim Bailey gives an update on the likely Cheltenham going on his blog this morning for anyone interested. Good to soft on Tuesday if he is to be believed.
Sceau Royal’s defection now means there are only 4 horses trained in the UK left in the Arkle – and we ain’t even reached the 6 day ‘confirmed entry’ stage yet left alone the final decs! Astounding. One chap from Ireland (who I’ve never heard of) has got more horses entered in the race, at the moment, than the whole of this country have!
Little bit of interest this morn in the Lieutenant’s Ok Corral in the ‘Coral Cup’. Didn’t realise until I typed the previous line but, I bally well say, what a humorous winner of the race that would be. What, what?!? His form is very closely tied in (via a January Newbury novice hurdle) with the same barns Whatswrongwithyou and that one wins the ‘Imperial Cup’ on Saturday (as I think he will) expect any quotes of 20/1 (or anywhere near this) to disappear re the doube Cor(r)al PD, I say PD, Q. You may want to go down the NRNB route with OK Corral though as he’s proved very fragile – now an 8YO and only 3 runs over hurdles.
Gigginstown House Stud's Eddie O'Leary has spoken on the market move for Samcro in the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle. He said: "Switching Samcro from the Ballymore to the Supreme is something we’re not even thinking about. It doesn’t interest us that his price for the Supreme has shortened. "Unless the ground becomes brutally heavy - and I hope for everyone’s sake that won’t be the case - it isn’t something we’ll even consider.”
Connections turned a few heads when they switched him to the shorter race at the Dublin Racing Festival when it came up soft. With all the rain forecast he was worth the punt at 14/1 NRNB. If it was cast iron that he goes Ballymore, i wonder why he still has the Supreme entry? Bet365 wont be too worried because they will have made any Supreme losses from the long range punts on him for the Ballymore. Anyone remember when Vautour was going "...Gold Cup or nothing..." then turned up in the RyanAir?
Yep, he’s got options – also in the ‘Daddy’ Martin race. Do think though that 144 is highly exploitable and that may sway connections to go down the handicap route rather than the Grade 1.
Hi Stick, What do you make of Gigginstown running a horse in the cheltenham bumper - very unusual of them
He is! But sure i heard somewhere that ruby will ride thier Horses (or at least have first refusal) could be bullshit to be fair
