4.50 Lingfield - BURGESS DREAM- (no price yet) Expected to go very close and conditions are perfect for him! He just gallops and gallops only has the one gear but loves the ground! Andrew Thornton on board and his last race was much stronger. Can’t see him getting beat!
A question for Odddy, or anyone else who wants to chip in. Which horse running at Kempton tomorrow ran in "the best bumper ever staged in the British Isles"?
Hendersons horse is making the market look sweet for that 3:00 Kempton tomorrow. A good few lengths behind Far Cry (7/2) and Oriental Flame (10/1) at Lingfield with no conceivable excuses and yet the bookies have it installed at 11/4 fav! A couple of the debutantes just worrying me out of having a really good punt on this race!
It is interesting looking back through that old bumper form isn't it? One of the nicest things I read amongst the eulogies for Malcolm Jefferson was from one of the owners of Double W's ................................. he mentioned that, for all his experience, Malcolm wasn't always right. Prior to Double W's debut in a Market Rasen bumper Jefferson had inspected the opposition in the paddock and proclaimed "I wouldn't swap ours for any of these". Double W's finished second to Altior
i'm going to go with smokey's Burgess Dream @9/4 and put Hermanus southwell 5.30 @5/1, then to finish the patent off i'll go with Peggies Venture 5/2 4.00 kempton.
3 x e/w patents 200 K - Commanche Chieftain 300 K - Far Cry 400K - Diamond Guy 500K - Velpone Jelois 210 L - Foxtrot Juliet 415 L - Hansupfordetroit 425 S - Tomkevi 500 S - Brynmawr 530 S - Theatre Act Depending how these do, depends on whether I have a little go at Wolves in the evening. Apologies if I have put a jinx on anybody else's selections
apart from Rose to Fame in the 3 00 Kemp, the other slightly interesting one is Brynmawr 5 00 Southwell , paddy brennan booked which always bodes well , tizzard has his string in good order , this one has run in decent novice races , and his handicap start wasn't devoid of promise , the less testing ground may well see him in the winners area , at 7/1 he rates a sporting bet , shall do these in singles and ew doubles !
Often wondered how I would fare as a bookie, tonight I would be going 7/2 Simonia 7/4 Josses Hill 15/8 Article Fifty
Against my better judgement and a lifetime resolution not to get involved in sh1t midweek racing, I find that I am doing just that! Black Sails at Wolves 8-15 Zubayr Kemp 3.30 Peculiar Places Kemp 4.30 Good luck all
I reckon you could go 3-1 Josses Hill, can't see him winning that race at all. I see his first ever race under rules was a second to Faugheen in a bumper. 22 lengths behind though!
I won't be making myself very popular here talking about the so called "all weather" night racing but the curious case of the two Tony Carroll entries in the claimer has got me interested, not just because one ofomy cliff horses runs. 19lb between them in the ratings. There is every chance the lower rated Admirable Art (the "cliff" horse) is merely there to help settle the skinny priced favourite in a bid to finally end the poor boy's losing streak. Perhaps more likely something tactical, with one providing cover or setting the pace for the other. A closer look at these two's more recent runs suddenly reveals some massive question marks over that 19lb difference in the ratings. If I had the Stomach for laying I'd be very tempted with the favourite as a lay shout. I cant see the price getting much shorter, and I'd reckon it would need to drift somewhat considerably for it to inspire much in the way of market confidence. Inconsistent and prone to making a meal of his starts. Also seemingly completely unproven on this surface. If he's truly 19lb stronger than his stablemate (and roughly 15lb better than the rest of the field) then on these terms he should have this by a good 8 to 10 lengths. I just can't see it. Not in a month of Sundays. All that said. Tony is a shrewd character and I'm sure he knows what he's doing. I just wish I could work out what that was. I'lI probably end up just blindly betting Admirable Art based on little besides him having done me a good turn plenty if times before and my getting the feeling that on his best day he might actually just be able to go toe for toe with the favourite. Knowing my luck one wont run and the other will get into a tangle with the stalls. Captain Cat to fluff his lines and settle for place money. Admirable Art for the win (currently 14's). For the non-Tony Carroll fan boys, Miami Sunset also looks good value at 8/1 for the other place.
