Yeah, it would have been much better had he said "the squads not very good, the manager is a mug, the board are useless, we can't even beat Stoke. That's it, we're stuffed."
Or, “the results are obviously not going our way, but we’re pulling together and we believe in each other and we’ll fight to the end” Followed by “FREEDDDOOMMMM”
Only one team in it second half. Unfortunately, we still can't score, even with Gabbi, Carrillo and Boufal on the pitch. But there were positives in that 2nd half for sure.
I'd rather hear that from a player than for them to fold up and admit defeat. Not sure how a lack of confidence would help.
We were miles better in the second half. For me Redmond’s performance was the difference. But it really is Groundhog Day. We know full well that Pellegrino is either the most stupid or most stubborn manager and will set us up not to win in any match we play.
I find this whole season just weird....there is no logic to being able to get draws all the time and no wins. Other teams at the bottom can both lose and win.....which either puts them just above or just below us......with 3 draws = 1 win. I can see us staying up just or taking 18th spot, but like Fats don't see the point in tearing my hair out.....did a bit of that months ago. And if we are relegated, I will take it on the chin and move forward to next season. It is the only sane way.
An interesting thought, since by that logic those who argue that under any other manager, including their neighbours cat, we would be comfortably mid table right now, are making the exact same assumption- that the squad is way too good to go down. I am not so sure about that. The tightness of the table indicates to me that there is little to choose between the bottom half teams. For what it’s worth, I think we are playing a more entertaining style of football now, compared to that served up under Puel. The results are obviously not good enough though and I understand the desire to kick out at the manager and board, but like Fats I believe/hope that we will survive this season. If we don’t, then I have lived through worse than that as a Saints fan, and will cross my bridges later. One final thought; I am bemused by those who almost seem to wish that we get relegated, perhaps to justify their rage, disappointment and opportunity to be a “told you so”. Careful what you wish for.
I wasn’t at the match as I had a family occasion to go to, but matches against Stoke are never an attraction to be honest. I know we play too defensively, but my point is - The board knew they were getting a defensive manager. Also I would have thought Reed would have said something like let’s be more offensive and really go for it. It can’t just be MP2 making all the strategies surely? Can it
Only one team in it, but Stoke still had the best chance of the half/game and should’ve scored. That has been our issue all season
Assuming that Palace lose to United (and nothing is certain this season....other than that we will get a draw ), we are actually better off now....one place lower in the table, but in 17th by a point instead of just GD. This season is just weird....I keep getting a feeling of preordination (let's hope that means staying up and not relegation).
Yep & really same with Puel as well. Redmond was a good example y’day. 1st 60mins rather ordinary & not enough probing, running forward and then a 20min purple patch. Was that MP instigated or team or ... ? If Redmond had played with that intensity for 90mins & indeed the team, I’m sure we would have won.
