If city win yeah. If not then a 6 point gap is still very good for us but only a 4 point gap and we will be right in it.

7 points from 9 would require Chelsea to win all 9 to catch us if we keep our form.

I thought the ref and the assistants were woeful today. Scared to make a decision. Newcastle carried on with niggly fouls to break up play throughout the match and the ref did nothing. A couple of yellow cards and they would have soon stopped.

Lovren has always looked happier at RCB.

Yes it can. The rule isn't no red card if in box, the rule is no red card if it's a genuine attempt for the ball.

Lovren only looked happy when the ball was in the other half of the pitch until of late :bandit:

Didn't seem to get out of 2nd gear in that game. Not the best, but 3 points nearer the goal.
Though nothing is certain, I don't expect the Chavs to beat City - and it would be nice if Palace could stick one on Utd on Monday.

They only had 3 bad results but the way the prem is going any loss of form puts you in the ****.

They were on utds tails for 2nd and even with Utd ****ing up they were well adrift after January.

Last year we went from 2nd to holding onto 4th with a poor January... league cup kiss of death?

The red card is for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. If it's a penalty, the attacking team still have that opportunity.

The rule was change a while ago so teams wouldn't get the double punishment of a penalty AND a red card.

All irrelevant mind as it was outside the box. The red card wouldn't have effected the game with only 30seconds to go but it would have effected Newcastle in forthcoming games (I can see why you'd want both ;) )

Which it was not so Its a clear red that went totally unpunished so if the systemm is worth anything he should get 3 games retrospectively.

At 0-2 to take a risk like that is scandalous for his side tbh.

You can still be given a red card if you give away a penalty if there was no attempt to win the ball. I think this is only a year or so old.

And not bothered now, we're gonna win the cup and go down ala Wigan :)

i like that rule change. Always seemed a bit ridiculous if 2 players both went for the ball and if the defender was 0.003 secs slower than the forward a pen & red card followed.

Obviously, if it's a disgraceful challenge with no intention of getting the ball then it can be red. Otherwise, players would take the opportunity to pub the **** out of someone <laugh>
