What's worrying is, we have lost at least 2 games less, than the teams above and below us! Drawn too many games.
You are saying that because you are a Sainst fan. The other clubs struggling will Be getting similar criticism From Their fans. The only teams who ever deserve to go down are those who finish the season in the bottom three.
I don’t think we’ll go for it, but away from home it will suit us and if Redmond/Boufal/Sims/Lemina get the chance to counter, then I think it will play nicely for us. What I’m saying is I can see those wins because of the opponents, the away status and the way I think the games will play out. Certainly not because I think MP2 will suddenly throw of the chains.
I see your point and I certainly fancy us more in those two games than I did in this game today. What I don't fancy is MP to pick the right team.
Merson says he fears for us now....I disagree with him 9 games to go and I am not throwing in the towel yet.
We all have our favourite players but I want to know exactly what Pierre and JWP have done wrong to drop out of the first team while the inconsistant and occasionally innocuous Tadic and (by his own admission) out of form Romeu keep starting games. We badly missed JWP's delivery and his and Pierre's energy and control and our better performances have been when they have started together IMO. It seemed that we started with the wrong Striker today as there were a lot of passes made beyond the Stoke back line (Gabbi's game) for Carillo to run onto in the first half, but he never read them and was caught on his heels and hardly any high balls were crossed for him to contest for. If Pellegrino wasn't prepared to push the boat out offensively for the start of this match, then i'm afraid that we will see the same pattern for the rest of the season...
Point is, we probably won't judging by the previous 29 games this season. We had a couple of chances... Stoke had chances just as good as ours really.
The concern is that many of them aren't struggling, not to the extent we are. This would be something of a different proposition if Swansea hadn't outpaced us by 6 points since Jan 1st, if Bournemouth hadn't all but confirmed safety, etc. The likely points target has been raised, and we haven't raised our game to match.
Couldn’t agree more. If there’s one thing Carrillo’s talent definitely doesn’t suit, it's being played as a lone striker. We improved rapidly once Gabbiadini came on, but with no decent set-piece delivery couldn’t take advantage. It’s so blindingly obvious to everyone except Pellegrino that we have to try 4-4-2 with JWP on the right and Gabbi and Guido up top!
We don’t need many of them to struggle, just three. Right now, that’s WBA, Stoke, West Ham, Palace, Saints, Huddersfield. You can point me to stats that say some of those have had better returns than us, but the only stat that matters is the relegation line. We are not down yet.
Agreed. For some strange reason I still think we’ll scrape home. That may be blind optimism though. I mean, I have absolutely no idea how MP2 is still in charge, so what do I know!?
We are not down, no. But the noose is tightening; the easiest part of our schedule is drawing to a close, and we have lost rather than gaining ground. Our path is getting narrower: if we do not beat Newcastle, it will take a near-miracle to stay up.
