I'm still trying to think of a nigelism! brain's not working though. I think the review of this season would be - so far so good.
I love the way Nige asks those rhetorical questions in his interviews!! That was a magnificent game of football wasn't it? Here is mine for him: You really are swiftly becoming a Saints legend aren't you Nigel?
Only just realised this thread has turned into a little tribute and appreciation to Nigel and his famous quotes. But look what I've just found from just a few months back...? Nigel Adkins?
Yes mate! I think it's one of my favourites, and from now on when the issue of pace arises (be it football related or not) I use it! Of course there are players who are faster than Forte out there, but for Nige he is the measuring stick!! Sort of sums up the belief and passion he has in his players even if they are not world beaters.
well, back on subject Season has been unexpected BUT think Sat we may drop our first points - not pessimistic just realistic - leicester cant be so bad every game! heres hoping not but Id be happy with a 2-2
I love how we're top of the table, with maximum points so far, and yet some are only saying that our season has been 8/10 so far. How great is that! (Considering that we were under-par vs Millwall, and almost dropped two points vs Barnsley, I think I agree with an 8/10 rating). PS. I'd also love to see Adkins commentate/provide punditry for the World Athletic Champs next week.
If Lallana isn't Jonno quick, as measured by the Flying Feet of Forte, then I guess that makes him officially lacking in pace..! Therefore, I hereby prostrate myself on the ground, begging forgiveness to anyone who was offended by my arguments that he was a speedy wee thing.
That is absolutely wonderful. I'd not seen that before. It is typical Nigel Adkins. His enthusiasm, his ambition, his planning. He has totally submersed himself in the history and warmth of SFC. I really loved watching that. I loved the fact that he remembered. He remembered Peter Rodrigues and he even censured himself for not remembering Hugh Fisher's surname immediately. There's plenty of Saints fans who wouldn't nowadays. He's the best fan we've got. I've always had a small lingering memory of Alan Pardew, because for all his little faults, he flew the flag, so to speak, while he was with us. But Adkins believes his cause implicitly. Managers are always 100%, or so they tell us. For example, Pardew was 100%. But if there is a mythical thing that is 110%, it is Adkins. For those with any last lingering doubts about the man, this must be Sold Ticket On.
