Well perhaps you should think again. You are wrong. Every AGM has an election for the board. Just like the trust and just like the trust there are never more candidates than positions.
Democracy is important and fought for in many different ways. Anonymity doesn't harm it, dishonesty and manipulation does. I don't know who you are, yet I trust you; why is that? My post was specific to our current situation and a sprinkling of common sense should be used when reading it. The views shared by the action group(s) are clear and in sync with others - not a mish-mash. Including them, listening, just once, would shake off the veils. Meeting them surreptitiously and trying to manipulate them increases the mish-mash and distrust. We know the group we are talking about, it's the one known to the Trust, which may also be the one known to the club (or both). They are so anonymous the club found them and, allegedly, tried to manipulate them (shocked and stunned). We should deal with what is, not what should be. A lone voice can be the most powerful. Ad hoc groups work for me. Formal, membership groups eventually become divisive and cumbersome. There is a time and a place for both - it is here and now.
This is nonsense. The Trust isn't everything for everyone. It is necessarily limited in its commitment to protest. A need for something more proactive, or aggressive, is, hopefully, temporary. Anonymity protects individuals in all walks of life: family, work, socially. This is a real consideration for some, in a social media community that talks of scabs (no dig intended to an old adversary ) and not caring about inflicting aggravation and nuisance on innocents. This anonymity card is overplayed and misunderstood.
Ok thanks. Thats a welcome change for the OSC, iirc the directors used to be appointed in quite an opaque way. Good news.
Dont. I too dont think they'll agree to revert back (and effectively accept defeat). But that doesnt mean we should accept defeat either. Surely our demands should be kept crystal clear ..... return to proper name and nickname, and to previous badge, and proper, fair concessions.
The fan consultation about changing the badge / logo just prolongs the status quo, they have already said any potential change will not happen until the season after next. Talk about kicking the can up the road.
It was a ku da ta when I was last a member. Secret meeting, labelled afterwards as an AGM & an internal pre-arranged, self appointing takeover.
The method hasn’t changed, it’s a quirk of the set up. Directors are elected at an AGM, but that is not the only way Directors can come onto the board. It’s because the OSC is a limited company. I have been working on the company status and the OSC will become a Community Interest Company soon.
That’ll be interesting I run a CIC Presumably the community interest will be charitable donations to good causes etc?
It is different now and will be different in the future. It takes time to bring in change. None of the previous board are involved and the board has no ego driven members. We all seem to work together and get on with things. It’s not perfect by any means but it needed to change and it has.
