Can't really see it happening considering he's one of Italy's future great prospects, looks a hell of a player though...

I really hope Santon comes to NUFC. I remember this guy had Ronaldo in his pocket when Inter played Man U 2-3 years back and he was only 18 at the time. His career has staggered a bit due to injuries and also lack of first team action cos of Maicon and Chivu.
However whether Santon comes or not, I really hope we get Onouha from Man City and can play anywhere in the back 4. Bargain at around 3-5 miliion.

    A defence of
    Santon - Coloccinni - Taylor - Cissoko

would be amazing but shame it won't happen!

Yeah best case scenario for me but I can't see Cissokho or Santon arriving. Pieters is still an excellent signing though and if no one had mentioned Cissokho, I was over the moon with him. Dutch international and looks a sound player. Lot better than what I expected. Get Santon, Cissohko and a top class striker and we'd have had an excellent window. Barton needs to stay though, last night was a good reason of why. We need that player who can control the pace of a game. Cabaye will eventually be able to help in this regard once he finds the pace of the game over here. His passing is excellent too. I know Barton won't be staying but we are mad not to keep him.

Erik Pieters has confirmed he may have made his last appearance for PSV Eindhoven as he closes in on a move to Newcastle.

Reports in England suggest Pieters is due in the north-east today to discuss a move to St James' Park after Newcastle agreed a fee with PSV following weeks of negotiations.

And Pieters admitted after Thursday night's 5-0 defeat of SV Ried in the Europa League may have been his PSV swansong.

The 23-year-old told the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper: "If a club from the Premier League says they want you, and that is the case, then you know the financial means they have.

"Whether I play for PSV at Excelsior on Sunday or am already at Newcastle I do not know.

"I have not seen much of Newcastle myself but my friend (and fellow Dutchman) Tim Krul keeps me informed."

Pieters joined PSV from FC Utrecht in 2008 and has made 78 league appearances for the Philips Stadion club.

was going to make a thread but not worth it till he signs (if he does) as there are a few about fullbacks already i'm sure someone will though <doh>

    If he signs that's a very strong back four provided we get Pieters as well;

    Pieters Colo Taylor Santon

The kind of defence to make people tremble!

The people that support the team they play for. It's a bit like giving away a two goal start every week.

Natural RB and LB respectively. <ok>

Although Santon can cover the left-hand side if needed.

This can't be right surely its just a loan deal? Santon is one of the hottest prospects about, no way would inter let him leave for under 10m, there is no way we will sign him if we do it would probably be the best signing we have made of late.
