Meanwhile, away from the schoolboy lavatorial bullshit, easterly winds of well over 50 mph forecast today. That, combined with temperatures of zero (or less) equals serious wind-chill. Just been hearing about motorists in Scotland who spent the night stranded in their cars on the M 80
I'm in Norwich city centre and the wind is BITTER!!! Yes, I saw the article re the stranded motorists and some ignored the advice NOT to drive.
Wymondham area has been like end of days. Never seen snow like this in my lifetime. Luckily my gf has been able to do bits for work from home. So don't have to worry about her journeys. My work has been totally screwed. It has been nice to have days together at home. We walked to meet friends at a pub, who have also been snowed off from work. The walk to the pub was pretty damn dodgy! I had to push 4 cars on the walk to the pub which would usually take 10 minutes. Took us 45. That's walking. Roads look like compressed sheet ice. I thought "well, it's not going to be as bad as they say". I think it's been worse than they said. I've had to dig a trench to get from the house to the road.
Didn't seem too bad to me on Wednesday when I ventured out to Waitrose! Roads from Wymondham into Norwich not much of an issue either tbh.
Main roads around Yarmouth are ok The problem are the minor roads and paths. Sheet ice where I live. Can't move the car out of drive as its on an incline. Plentyof brandy and vino in stock. Freezer well stocked.
Local roads are mostly clear and only 200 yards to get to a main road. Buses running OK and on time, as very little other traffic on the roads. Aldi got their supply of milk in today and off to Sorrento for 5 nights first thing Sunday, so most of the snow should be gone by the time I get back.
This is BRILLIANT news - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/entertainment-arts-43245738/six-deaf-and-going-to-the-oscars and even if she doesn't win, it's going to do SOOO much to raise the awareness deaf children.
Exciting end to the cricket in NZ in the ODI!! What a finish! it's a dot Chris Woakes sends a wide yorker and it dribbles through to Jos Buttler.
Got to feel for poor Kane Williamson, shepherding his side to within a gnat's whisker of victory. Superb unbeaten hundred on a less than perfect pitch. Great game
Strewth, must have been cold for this to happen. Give me the Mediterranean climes of north Norfolk any day!!
