    True.

In ye olden days a home tie meant more and there were not so much top 4 dominance.

Imo cup usually we t to a safe mid table side while sides at top went with smaller squads into Europe. Tough to win a double then.

Now it's piss easy and just about every big money side boasts a few variants.

Away tie seems to mean nothing unless you draw another top 4 side.... and tgen galf the sides font up thejr game any either

It would be interesting though wouldn't it? Of course football evolves, and later generations are faster and fitter so would win easily - but they'd also get lumps kicked out of them and the diving shenanigans wouldn't get them very far.
    Reminds me of this:

Yeah, but, back in the day it was more difficult to win the League Cup than the FA Cup.

Had to play more games to win it(two legged 3rd round and two legged Semi), plus no non league clubs in the competition, the FA Cup had all the tradition and prestige though and rightly so.

So winning the treble(including a League Cup)was as difficult as the "real" treble to win but didn't carry as much glory.

    Smaller squads back then.

Away games far far harder in Europe

Bent refs. An away leg anywhere in eastern europe was a death sentance

Frankly city's league cup was barely a sniffle to them. They has it piss easy in it. Only toughish game wasleicester

Their cl games thus far have also been piss easy. So their comp starts at qf draw....

Their league form has been excellent.

She's just a Harry Kane freak. Trying to put a devout Muslim off like that is terrible.

    What a tramp.

Could have sworn it was Arsenal that won their second first.

However, in pre-PL football times, only five different sides managed a single double win each. Since the PL was formed, there have been six doubles won but spread across just three different teams.

This suggests (a) its much harder to win something if you're not an established top club; and (b) its a lot easier if you are an established top side.

Beating that Munich side was more an achievement than winning the CWC.

Would have preferred the double than the European trophy

But a treble using the LC? Then again it’s something that’s missing from our collection.

Tbh Utd has utter and complete 1990s dominance til arsenal burst their bubble and Ferguson kicked a boot at Beckham.

It helped that neither side did much in Europe as well. Frankly Utd under achieved in Europe and then went for cup.

1999 is obviously the exceptional year.

Chelsea in 2010 were by far the best side of that year.

No double since but plenty of mini league cup/league doubles shows the timing of fa cup means top sides are not pushing for it when league and cl take priority.

The top clubs can win league cup before cl restarts and then focus on league and cl.

I think that list purely consists of us and Utd ?
They did the official treble, or the one you would consider the hardest but we have done 2 ‘lesser’ trebles?
This does not include super cups and world club and community shields
Again think utd have bettered us there as they have won the world club once, to our zero.
