Crikey, I thought my eyesight was bad. When you go to a Charlton game Royston, can you actually tell which player is which?
Blackburn Rovers won again tonight, 0-3 at AFC Wimbledon. In the time it has taken Charlton to secure our most recent 9 wins, Blackburn have won 18 times. Peterborough also won, moves them up to 8th with 50 points (played one game more than us). Posh have taken 7 points from their last 5 games and are unbeaten in that time, whereas Charlton have taken 5 points from the same number of games (relegation form) and have lost twice.
I don't often agree with The Sun but they aren't wrong when they declare this is 'Snowflake Britain'. Of course those folks who are elderly or vulnerable need to be looked after properly when the weather is bad, but it was depressing to hear on Monday that huge numbers of trains had been cancelled before a flake of snow had fallen. What we are facing here is not the kind of blizzards and four foot deep snow which battered the USA recently. Outside my front window this morning there is about 1 inch of settled snow. And that's apparently enough to cause limitless chaos. God knows how we would cope if there is ever a proper national catastrophe.
A thaw today at last Is it me or has this felt like the longest winter ever ? Can’t wait for a bit of spring sunshine & roll on Peterborough away next Saturday
It will just be nice to have some football / Charlton to watch. How do people who are not normal cope without football on Saturdays ?
Yes, thanks, Royston. Ideal walking conditions for the first week, then the weather gradually deteriorated until it was lashing down for the last day. We were near a fishing port, so had plenty of fresh fish most days. The Brits who arrived just before we left brought all their own food along, including such delights as tinned ham. I've only really started to enjoy walking holidays since retiring as a postman, but it's a very good way to see a foreign country. It's important not to judge people by their political leaders. The friendliest nationality I've come across were the Argies.................under the fascist Galtieri.
