You could instead define mid-table as clubs that don't have a realistic chance of Europe but neither are they a threat for relegation, in which case mid-table is just Burnley and Leicester this season

You can define mid-table however you want.
I will however contend that come the PL table
at season end, mine does at least have strong
    objective arithmetic reality.

Fat Sam trying to conpare Everton to Burnley.

When questioned about their season - Burnley are having a brilliant season but if we won at the weekend we go level with them.

Yes sam... but you’ve spent about 120m this season, Burnley’s whole squad cost about £20m and they’ve been fighting relegation for the last 3 years <laugh>

Just been reading how City can make "history" by winning a treble of the league title, European champions cup and the domestic league cup.
The late Joe ***an achieved that particular feat for Liverpool, so they can only equal a record, the argument against will go along the lines that "it's harder to win these days", "football was easier back then" etc, but it's funny that it was so easy only we managed to do it.:emoticon-0100-smile
Also the fact that the same people that diss our record of success use pre-prem and CL stats and managers in a positive light when it comes to bigging up other clubs, if our achievements count for nothing someone should tell Uefa and the FA to expunge all results and titles won prior to the modern day versions of the competitions.<grr>

I agree with the man u comment Tobes, but Ian Ladyman(boy) has stated the City bs.

If the trophies are now totally different fair enough, they should be separated accordingly, but as for instance Utd 20/3 is accepted why not accept other pre Prem and CL feats in the same way.<whistle>

Can’t say I’ve seen it mate, I’ve seen comments about them breaking points records etc and how this side could potentially be rated as amongst the best ever, but I’ve not seen the potential treble being held up as being a unique achievement.

The different eras debate is pointless, as it can never be quantified. Clubs achievements at any point in time are what they are, albeit we’d be daft to think times haven’t changed. We missed out on a treble in ‘85 due to having been on the lash for 3 days <laugh> I can’t see that being repeated in the current era.

Its just people doing the usual bs
Any multiple trophy win is exceptional, today, in the past whenever. You get very rare occasions like the UEFA cup last year where a team can caost it like Utd did, but had that been us we would prob have gone out to some pants french side.
They are just bigging city up cause they have played so well, its up to the other teams to rise up now.
I really dislike it when they compare generations, which side was better utd treble winners or liverpool 70’s side.
There really is no discussion, utd would smash the 70’s side as the game speed and fitness levels have moved on so much. What we dont know is what those sides would have been like with all the concentrated training that sides from Today receive.

Anyway, as City won't be winning(fingers(all 30)crossed)this season's CL trophy, so the debate is void.<whistle>

You could just look double (league & cup) wins...

In the mid-nineties, Arsenal became the first to do this a second time.

How many doubles have been won since?

If football was easier pre-PL, why weren't there more double winners?

If they do win it having waltzed the PL, then fair play to them, they’ve been magnificent in fairness.

I’m probably just with you though, I think they’ll just fall short in the CL.

Man City won't have a better opportunity to win a treble; already won the League Cup and the PL as been gift wrapped for months, they only have the CL to worry about

    Hence me saying "a treble"

Didn't think had won this version twice. We did it under ***an but the Houllier treble didn't include the league.

It’s a different format tbf. The Double And European cup should be the true measure of a treble.

It’s a lesser treble. I wouldn’t have been cartwheeling if Everton had beaten United in the FA cup and added CWC.
