This is a thread for our upcoming Europa League game against FC Thun. Please post things to do with the match on this thread.
They will be up for it this time and looked a little scared of us at home I wouldn't be so sure. Only saving grace is that they have to come at us to get a win so it may leave them exposed. We seriously need some strikers though and a decent midfield!
Radio Stoke seem to think Palacios is close to signing. I hope they're right and he could sign by Thursday.
Can not argue with any of the above comments... Sgt, IF we are NOT up for the game on Thursday we could be caught out! Can't wait for the game, got my ticket bring it on! Oh, and let's sign a few player's I hope before Thursday.
http://www.stokecityfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10310~2429579,00.html STOKE CITY have been dealt a double blow to their plans for the second leg of their Europa League Play-Off tie against FC Thun . . . with both Robert Huth and Matthew Etherington missing Thursday's game at the Britannia Stadium. The Club have received confirmation from UEFA that the influential pair will be suspended for the game after picking up bookings in Switzerland. Huth and Etherington both received their second cautions of the Europa League campaign in the 1-0 triumph at the Arena Thun last Thursday. Therefore, they will serve one match suspensions as the Potters look to secure their passage through to the Group Stages of the competition. Their opponents FC Thun also have one notable absentee, with goalkeeper David Da Costa suspended due to his sending off in the first leg after bringing down Jon Walters in the closing stages of the game in the Arena Thun. The absences of Huth and Etherington mean that manager Tony Pulis will be hoping winger Jermaine Pennant and midfielder Rory Delap recover from their injury problems in time to feature against the Swiss Axpo Super League leaders. Pennant limped out of Sunday's draw at Norwich with a thigh injury, while Delap has been nursing a hamstring problem which he aggravated in the Chelsea match.
I went to the training ground with the kids this morning to watch the players training. Pennant was doing very light running and walking by himself and Delap wasn't there at all. There was good news though, Big Mama was training, albeit by himself, but he was jumping and running, so it wont be long now...!
I shall try to watch some of the game on the web if I can. Does anyone know any suitable links? I hope we get through to the group stages tonight. Even with a patched-up side of reserves we ought to. Come on the MIGHTY POTTERS
poor sides still need beatin !!!! just look at the scottish sides .. how good wud it of been to get Rangers or celtic ? ahh well bring it on
Potter WELL said, I thought Thun were awful but, we played well on the night that's what matters. Can't wait for the draw on Friday, bring em on and let's see what we can do from here. Rangers and Celtic WHO?
Good enough performance from the lads. We knew we didn't have to be at our best. What the hell was Wilko on last night?! It's quite usual for Wilko to play like a lunatic but he was especially loony tonight Matthew Upson - Really refreshing seeing a Stoke defender not hoofing the ball and just calmly passing the ball. Dean Whitehead - Terrier like as ever. Great engine, better passing than normal, broke up play very well. Well played Deano Another thing that was encouraging was that (I know it was against a poor side) but we played some good football as well
You can only beat what is put in front of you lads and I thought like sgt said at some stagesf the game we played some good football. Really enjoyed watching it. UTPsssssssssssssssss
