I presume most who think the game should go ahead are those that live within a short drive or walking distance of the game. I have a ~90 mins drive in normal conditions, cross country from the WestCountry. Unless roads show a significant improvement I won't be risking the journey
I may train it rather than drive - only Bournemouth, but why risk life and limb for the saints...not as if they would for me
Pah! Bit of the white stuff and it all goes to pot back in blighty. We had a short shower today - thats three showers in the last week. Most rain we have had in 12 months and it was cloudy too: which meant the temperature dropped to 23°C... thought about wearing a jumper.
To be fair if the surrounding area around the ground is safe and the pitch is thawed then it should go ahead. Whilst I wouldn’t risk going and I would be annoyed if I had spent money on a ticket, the game shouldn’t be postponed if some fans from Bournemouth/Brighton/London are unable to get there. Obviously there is the issue with the away fans but theyve obviously taken that into account or they would bave cancelled it. It sucks for them but if the city is fine then should go ahead.
To those fans going, both Saints and Stoke, hope you get there and back safely without too much delay! Come on you reds!
We almost always get the train and that's from Dorch. 75mins sitting on a train chatting, reading, eating, drinking or wondering when you'll end up sat in a traffic jam? Easy decision Railcard helps that decision too Mrs S loves a train I'm such a train-spotter
Ahh, you're just an optimistic-pessimist with a feeling of impending doom and a head full of dreams i.e. A Saints fan, you're amongst friends
I am confident we won’t lose this. A point will no doubt keep the tension going but a win will do a power of good for confidence all round Well said. There has been a lot of criticism on twitter which seems a bit unfair to me. The decision to go ahead is based on safety at the ground. I have not made my mind up whether I'll risk it yet. I will decide in the morning but it will be my decision not the clubs. At the end of the day a postponment will also piss off a large number of fans who simply can't make a midweek fixture for various reasons.
True but I don't think I've ever seen a game called off purely for reasons regarding the away support.
The weather up here in Staffordshire is apauling. Still hacking it down with snow and Gail force winds making things worse. I wouldn't be looking forward to that normally 4 hour drive in this personally
I`d go with McCarthy, Cedric, Stephens, Hoedt, Bertrand, JWP, Lemina, PEH, Boufal, Gabbiadini, Carillo.
I know we should win tomorrow, but I have this nagging feeling that one moment will turn the match. Stoke have Crouch, who always scores against us, and Shaquiri who can win a match on his own. We will create a hatful of chances but fail to score more than one goal. That is the script. Will Saints please prove me wrong.
I would make just two changes from your team. Unfortunately we will field one striker and five defensive midfielders because our manager plays not to lose rather than to win even though wins are what we need to stay in this league. His attitude permeates throughout the team and that is why most of us are pissed off with him.
