    WATFORD v WEST BROMWICH ALBION

Watford took a big step towards their hopes of a top half finish in the Premier League last weekend as Troy Deeney bagged a late winner against Everton to push The Hornets up to within a point of the 9th placed Toffees. It was a dour match in all honesty, but Deeney and his team mates can be more than satisfied with the three points.
The Hornets will be feeling more than a little confident about their chances on Saturday as well, as they come up against the dreadfully poor West Brom. The Baggies lost 2-1 at home to Huddersfield last weekend to keep them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, seven points adrift of safety and showing no signs of turning their fortunes around.

Alan Pardew is coming under increasing pressure, and a defeat at Vicarage Road could well seal his fate this weekend. Away from home things are dreadful for West Brom. They won their first trip away of the season in the league, but since then haven’t picked up a single victory and have lost nine of their 13 attempts. They have failed to score in six of these games, and their 22 league goals this season is fewer than anybody else in the table.

    Statistics:

    • Watford have only lost one of their five Premier League meetings with West Bromwich Albion (W2 D2), keeping a clean sheet in both previous home games (W1 D1).
    • West Brom’s last win at Vicarage Road came in a Championship game in November 2007 (3-0).
    • Watford are looking to win three back-to-back Premier League home games for the first time since April 2017 – one of those matches was against WBA (2-0).
    • Alan Pardew’s side have lost their last four Premier League games – they last lost five in a row in January 2011.
    • West Brom have lost their last two Premier League away games by a 0-3 scoreline – they’ve not lost three top-flight away games in a row by a margin of 3+ goals since September 1985 (a run of four).
    • No side have used more different players in the Premier League than Watford this season (29), while only Arsenal (16, before Thursday’s game with Man City) have had more different goalscorers than the Hornets (15).
    • Watford and West Brom have each won two, drawn three, and lost two of their last seven encounters with one another.
    Team News:

Watford have suffered another injury blow after Gerard Deulofeu revealed he will be “out from the pitch for some time”. Other players who have been injured might be available, but we must wait and see.
West Brom are without Daniel Sturridge, Nacer Chadli, and James Morrison for this clash.

¡¡COYH!! A win would be a big step towards safety.

Now, irrespective of Saturday's game IF West Brom do go down then José Salomón Rondón Giménez is a striker that'd I'd happily watch wearing the Watford shirt. Just a thought.

I guess Carrillo will be back in the starting team, or will Fermenia start?

Despite the beast from the east causing havoc to some parts of the country we should be ok I reckon.

Lets hope we don't freeze again against a team we will be expected to beat.

Geri D is out then so presume Carrillo will start?

Hopefully Femenia will earn a spot in the first XI...and maybe Okaka if we go 2 up front?

It has happened before that the pitch has been playable, but the police called the game off as the approaches to the stadium were deemed unsafe. I guess that being next to the hospital would be a factor.

The club have assured that all roads and paths in the vecinity will be clear and photos inside the ground today show it clear of snow. They are using that contraption they use to artificially create sunlight to grow the grass to keep the snow melted and drained away. They may need to do extra for the uncovered areas of the stands but I think the match will be 100% on.

I went to the away game at West Brom this season, and received a nice dose of bronchitis for my trouble. It was a cold day with a strong wind, and when I arrived back here my doctor wanted to know what I had been up to, before prescribing three weeks of medicine. Still I survived and I am sure you will Brian.

You did Brian. That's why I stayed away - I was only half a dozen seats along from Frenchie... a bit mental when we scored!<party><party><party>
I stayed in the pub for most of the day, venturing out only to the game and the train. Wasn't pleasant weather at all.
