Has anyone heard the, inventively titled, To Hull and Back R4 comedy? Just caught it and the accents were ridiculous. Of course it starred Lipman and was written by Beaumont but the accents were massively exaggerated to fit the comedic stereotype.

I have NEVER heard anyone from Hull talk like that.

I've only just seen this. It's ****ing soul destroying and the mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, waste of oxygen that did it needs a proper ball kicking.

    Heartbreaking.

I can’t be arsed to find any evidence online, but I recall that when big budget BBC soap Eldorado was being made they wrote one of the families as being from Hull. There was a bit of uproar about it locally at the time because the casting people dismissed out of hand any actors from Hull due to their ‘funny’ accents and appointed actors from the Sheffield area instead because they sounded like the Yorkshire folk they wanted...

More good news for the area, Siemens are building a £200m train factory on the M62 near Goole, creating up to 700 new jobs.

Had a meeting at the Siemen's site in Hull last week - very impressive place and hopeful of becoming one of their suppliers. It's such a clean site

Godber seems to think Hull folk sound like Wessies.

So I am being negative by saying Godber insults Hull folk by having them speak like Wessies. Funny lad.

Castro does seem like a nice kid and all that, but there does seem to be a 'hang up' in there about Hull. Understandably, he'll never tell us. Some therapy might help though. Go careful with him, Julian. We don't know happened...

Unlike a lot on here who left Hull I chose to move there. Only a transfer in my job which was worth a lot of money made me leave.
Just, as an outsider, you realise how parochial and insular Hull folk tend to be.

It's not that and you know it isn't. Day after day, week after month after year. You slate Hull, you tell us how and why everywhere else is better. I love the place myself and I'm spectaculary unsuccessful here

Brid's got more than it's share of ex-pat Wessies with whining wives and hen pecked husbands.

Give me Hull any day of the week. <ok>

It has its fair share of ex Hull folk as well. Though not many who go in the opposite direction.

    It is incredibly clean
It’s like they’re building blades in a sterile clinical room

Good luck on becoming a supplier

Was near this today and no work seems to be happening. Suppose if KFC are moving in there, they’ll have bigger problems with the lack of chicken they are currently having.
