That's most unfortunate. I was brought up on Stanley Kubrick films. My Dad took me and my mates to the Abbey on my 11th birthday to see 2001
One of the most miscast films of all time is The Conqueror, John Wayne as Genghis Khan, obviously filmed in Arizona as it is a John Huston film and he filmed all his westerns there. Here is a sample, but it is worth watching the entire film as it is so bad
I was brought up watching button moon... So now I want to be off to Button Moon, to follow Mr. Spoon.
All I can say is there's this girl at a place i drop off in the van who is the spit of Drea de Matteo
Think you're getting a bit mixed up mate. That wasn't a John Huston film, he never did westerns, wasn't shot in Arizona either. John Ford?
It's funny how popular John Wayne was. Could you imagine anyone with his "talent" being that popular today?
Apologies it was Dick Powell who directed it. Howard Hughes produced it, his last film involvement. It is still one of the worst films ever made.
You need to watch it. If you can watch it without laughing you deserve a medal. Imagine if Brian Potter from Phoenix Nights decided to make a film about the life of Genghis Khan, and this is the film he would have made. To make Wayne look like a *****l they basically sellotaped his eyebrows upwards so he has a surprised expression throughout the film. He then squints all the time to suggest he is of Asian stock! Everyone has a strong American accent and they actually use American slang in the dialogue. It is a prime example of a film made for a country where only about 10% of the huge population have passports.
Put a kilt on him and no one would know the difference, never seen the films as the idea does not appeal.
