You're right, if Spurs reach the semi there should be a toss up with their opponent for home advantage of it should be played at a neutral ground.
The Wembley situation is just a joke these days, arent Chelsea are looking to take over from Spurs while their stadium is built?

So contact is made outside the area but VAR still give the penalty.

Then the penalty was disallowed for Son feinting on his run up. Then Rochdale score. Funny

 

What's the law on that...now var is in play? So many refs have pointed to free-kick before saying it started outside the box. Some have gave a penalty saying they played advantage but the foul kept going into box....i always thought that was wrong since anywhere else on the pitch the play is called back to the point of the original foul after the ref sees the advantage comes to nothing.

What is the actual rule? And will it need changed if var is introduced in general.

 

Have to say I was in theory in favour of a version of var in football. But not this ****e version.....

Only football could take something and **** it up this much.

Delighted that a ref has finally penalised a player for stopping in the run up to a penalty. Pisses me right off!

 

Bit of a surreal game with the under 23's against Porto B. The pitch is covered in snow and they are playing with a white ball. It is like a video version of spot the ball!

 

Anyone else think that the FA really doesn't want the system so is trying their best to ensure it never comes in.

I think he disallowed it because by the time the kick was taken there were at least 3 Spurs players almost ahead of the kicker (despite him telling them to get back twice), what is he supposed to do, order a retake which would be totally unfair on Rochdale and their keeper?
Only thing he could do really.

 

Right so BT ref says penalty is right because foul continues ....does that happen elsewhere on the pitch?

I could have swore I've seen refs bottle situations where a foul happens. .play on....a second foul happens and the ref comes back to original....

Maybe I'm making this up lol

I've just had a look at the laws and the issue with Son Heung-min was that he feinted after completing his run-up. You can do it during your run if you want."

 

Players entering the area too early is a retake. Much like if the keeper saves it when defensive players enter the area too soon.

Stopping during in the run up isn't a retake, its a freekick to the opposition.

 

Danny Ward has pulled off a couple of great saves in the U23's game.
